He said he wasn't interested.

She said she was.

He said he wanted to be a lawyer. She said she wanted to be an author. He said he never saw the looks. She said she couldn’t take her eyes off of him. He said he already had someone. She said she didn’t want to break them apart. He said he knew what he wanted to know. She said she never even got close enough to see the color his eyes were.

His friends said that she was weird, a freak. Her friends said that she should go for it.

He said that it felt like cheating. She said that it did, too. He said that looks won’t get her far if she won’t try. She said looks would get him the world. He said he wanted her to act. She said that she was too shy. He said that once she was onstage, she would shine. She said that a burnt-out star cannot shine again. He said that he had faith. She said she had none.

His friends told him that he was making a big mistake. Her friends encouraged hers.

He said that she would be happy. She said that she doubted happiness existed. He said that he wanted to get to know her. She said that he wouldn’t like it. He said that he broke up with his girlfriend. She said that he shouldn’t leave happiness behind. He said he wasn’t. She said he was.

He said he was interested.

She said she wasn’t.
