Sweet Waters

by Greta Gale

Come sit with me upon the flooded shores

and let the silver waters wash your feet

erasing all the truths you knew before

beside these currents real and unreal meet

Feel the soothing waters on your soul

as you slip deeper into its embrace

the wonders of the universe unfold

you swim into the starry depths of space

You whisper to me, “This is but a dream,”

As though your waking world meant any more

in that cold hell where all is what it seems

monotony is all that lies in store

Come, turn your face away from morning’s glow

and swim with me where evening’s phantoms flow
