“Faint rot”
Faint rot and rosebud sweet,
you were young in the pulpit,
power sewn words moving wayward souls
with a rough woven robes of sweat cotton
and hinted with the promising words or eons.
Rosebud sweet and candy bar taste,
you were a father and lover,
words of stern and loving encouragement
weaved with the eternity of life
and tasting of honey summers.
Candy bar taste and feather touch,
you never left the children out,
kindness dipped in heavenly waters,
leather bound gold words,
and loving sleeve
Feather touch and faint rot,
you are still and silent,
hard stone brown and chalk skin,
no longer sweet with candy bar taste,
and speaking the golden words.
