I should have dreamt of guns and war
27 March 2009
Southwest Train from Portsmouth to London
I dreamt that Thou gave me love’s perfect kiss,—
And with it forever we sealed our souls
Into a harmony of ecstasy.
What a strange sensation fully to feel
Thy soft mouth as it enfolded my own
While divorced from all life’s realities.
Nothing while awake has impressed so strong
As that butterfly waver of warm breath
Teasing me to savour Thy female musk.
Impossible to separate feelings
I was never conscious of possessing,—
Haunting me in wry corners of Thy smile.
