Chapter 1: Crimson Rain
Eerie lights lit up the pathways and roads. Pumpkins popped up from every corner of the village, creating a sea of orange. Excited children gathred together in clumps, chattering animately while walking from one house to the other. A semi-detatched house in the far corner of the village stood out among the quaint cottages, drawing lots of un-needed attention. A girl peeked out of the window, only her eyes could be seen. The emerald orbs peered at the growing crowd infront of their house with amusement. “ Mom! Everybody’s staring at our house again!” Taylor shouted to her mother, closing the curtains while scratching her head. She sighed as she examined her reflection in the dressing table’s mirror. A few strands of hair fell into her eyes, causing her to groan in annoyance. Taylor’s emerald eyes were narrowed in irritation as she tried to pin up her bangs with a clip. No matter how hard she tried, it always kept coming out. After a few minutes of struggling, her bangs were neatly held in place with two pure white clips. She sighed in relief as she checked her outfit one last time.
A sleeveless, obsidian kimono top hugged her petite form, accentuating her naturally small bust and hour-glass figure. A miniskirt covered her legs until slightly above her knees, where long ivory knee-high boots began. Taylor’s long red hair fell all the way to her waist, a cascade of wavy red hair with a copper tint. She nodded to herself before stepping away from the mirror and walking towards the front door. The crowd gasped in amazement as Taylor stepped onto the porch.
“Um, do you people mind leaving?” Taylor asked the crowd, placing her hands on her hips. They just stared at her in wonder and stupefaction. A vein throbbed in her temple.
“I said-” Taylor breathed in deeply. “STOP STARING AT THE FREAKIN’ HOUSE AND CONTINUE DOING YOUR DAMNED BUSINESS!” The crowd gawked at her before quickly dispersing. Taylor rubbed her temples, trying to ease her headache. “Happens every single year…” She muttered.
“Hey Talon!” Taylor smiled as she recognised the voices. She turned around and saw some familiar faces.
“Long time no see, Talon! I was wondering whether we would be able to find you!” Piper thrilled, enveloping Taylor in a bone-crushing hug. Her chesnut brown hair was pulled into a high ponytail and tied up with a red ribbon. She was dressed up as a Japanese ninja, shuriken and all. Taylor broke free of Piper’s iron grip and turned to face her other friends.
“Hello Mi’ lady.” Falco flashed a million-dollar smile as he bent down and kissed Taylor’s hand. His wavy black hair was tied back in a ponytail with a few escaped strands framing his face. A long black cape combined with a mask gave him a mysterious look.
“Good to see that you’re still staying in the same house…” Gabriella trailed off, glancing from Taylor to her house. A crown of leaves and berries adorned her golden-haired head. Taylor grinned as she hugged all her friends in turn.
“Since we have already acquainted ourselves again, is it time for trick or treating?” Piper asked, fiddling with her shuriken. Taylor nodded, flashing a sharp-toothed smile. Falco rummaged in his cape, producing a jack o’ latern bag. Gabriella smiled dreamily as she twirled a cloth bag in her hands.
“It’s time to hit the streets!”

“So they have gathered in the same place again this year…”
Images of Taylor and her friends flashed in a crystal orb, melding into a swirl of images.
“You will go and capture one of them. I will be watching from here.”
A dark figure knelt in front one the throne, head bowed and face covered by his hair.
“Yes…”

“Wow I’m pooped!”
“My thoughts exactly.”
“Ow…ow…my feet…”
“…I need a rest.”
Taylor lay down at the park bench, completely exhausted. They had just completed power trick or treating around the whole village, and the village was not exactly small either. The sound of a wrapper being torn off made her look around in slight puzzlement. She spotted Falco quietly eating a bar of white chocolate, a look of bliss on his face. He noticed a pair of emerald eyes staring at him before shrugging sheepishly. “Hey, I’m hungry!” Taylor rolled her eyes, giggling as she examined her friends. Everybody was completely drained of energy; even Piper was spent. A gust of wind blew, making Taylor’s hair flutter in the light breeze. The sudden smell of something metallic hit her nose, causing her to grimace in disgust.
It began to rain, the clouds opening and pouring down on Salem. A shrill scream pierced the air. Taylor looked down at her hands; they were covered in blood.
It’s raining blood.
