I enjoy the look of laughter, pillow-covered trees and run down shacks

vision fuzzy at the edges and dream like states of nothing real

driving too fast and talking too loud, laughing at unfunny

I like hearing water roar and worms who purr through dirt

Gullible and vulnerable, paranoid and true

velvet wood, humble feet, and caricatures too big

standing water, swirling colors, painted underwear

shiny pointed pencils, notebook paper frills

words that pour like slippery fish

hot and thick, hard and thrashing

I play with wings that flap like feathers

I ride on trains with pipe cleaner tracks

wind that whips rain on suicide plunges

moon waves that slap like midnighting fights

I write sos messages in corked bottles

I sing myself on crumbling mountains

I bury my head in the way of ostriches

I wave my hands like a drug crazed monkey

common and not

I am nothing you have ever met

I am everything you have ever seen

I am the green water in a frothing pond

I am the layer of skin in a dragonfly’s arm

burning red with scales of blueness

notes that dance on intoned bars

singers with voices that crack on cue

door handles that burn under a dark glassed sun

staples that cramp on thick packet pages

hair that sticks in mouth and your face

witches that sing in sewers and

little log houses than bow to the earth gods

wet smooth dark and brittle free

I’m not waiting for eternity to come

standing in a field in smoke of souls

life that comes too hard and chokes

you and you alone know have found perfection

crazy and sane, genius and idiot
