Chapter 4

Heather lay on her bed, looking at the little child next to her. Her curly brown hair fell over the child’s face, her eyes closed. Heather smiled. Yuna was so cute when she slept, but she’d be like that forever, never aging a day.

Heather sighed and closed her eyes. She got up, and left her room, laving little Yuna sound asleep. As she walked down the halls, her eyes half open, her mind wandered. What was her now smaller family going to do? So much had happened to her and her family. She lost her love, Victor only sixty years ago, when she was at the age of one hundred six. He had gone to the castle to speak to a friend of his, but he was unaware that his “friend” had betrayed him, and exposed him as a vampire.

Once he entered the gates, the guards grabbed him and bound him in silver chains. He was blamed for the deaths of twelve humans, all innocent, most young women, and a crime he did not commit. He was killed, a stake to the heart. A death he did not deserve; a horrible end to one who wouldn’t hurt a human unless he had nothing else to drink blood from.

A tear ran down Heather’s cheek, remembering him. He was so kind and loving. He had given up so much for her, his family hated him, falling for a half blood, one who was part human. They hated Heather, and she knew that, but Victor loved her, he didn’t care what people took of their love. After years of knowing each other, sharing love, he died, leaving her behind everything. She was left with his money, his home; everything he owned belonged to her.

The only thing she could bring herself to do was to sell the house. She took the money and hid it, and she also kept all of his books. She loved just sitting and reading them, every chance she got. Books of years before, then and of times ahead of this land, from the world, the realm, that which she had only parity seen. Each book held a bit of Victor, a part of him, a cherished memory that it held.

“Stop,” she heard a voice say. She had found herself standing in front of the door to the small library. “You’re only going to hurt yourself more.”

Turning, she saw Sangire looking at her. His face was grim, blood ran from his lip, his own blood, she knew the smell of his blood. He looked at her with concern in his eyes.

“Heather,” He began again. “We…we need to leave. Get Yuna, and take what you can. We don’t have long.”

“What?” Heather asked, alarmed. “What’s going on Sangire?”

Not looking at her and turning away Sangire whispered. “There’s a vampire hunt.”

Heather’s eyes got big. Damn. This had to be Michael’s doing, but there was nothing they could do. They’d be after Sangire and anyone with him, meaning Yuna and herself were in danger.

But Heather couldn’t just leave her brother. No he’d just come back and the only reason he had left was to keep his brother from losing his pride, Sangire had already believed he had no vampire pride, but now he truly doesn’t. He wasn’t proud at all of his life, he hated so much of it, but he knew that it was his life and eventually it’d get better.

Walking away, Sangire began to speak as Heather followed him.

“Take the mare and go to the castle. I’ll take Yuna to a safe place with other vampires. You need to be at the castle, telling Selena of what’s going on.”

Heather opened her mouth to argue, but Sangire continued. “Selena can help us, and besides Michael has no idea about you. You’ll be safer being there, trust me. If you stay close to Selena, he won’t care if you’re a half vampire or not, as long as you’re not trying to kill him or are related to me, he’ll have you stayed. He’ll try to get you to help him get the vampires on his side, but just try your best to do what you can. You’re smart; you know how to get yourself out of a hole.”

Heather nodded. She didn’t say a word. She ran to her brother and hugged him. A long hard hug, she knew that she wouldn’t see her brother for a long time. He kissed her head, and led her to the small stable. There stood a brown mare, already saddled. Heather quickly got onto the horse as Sangire led it out. He slapped the horse on the rump as the horse ran off; Heather took one last glimpse at her home, fading slowly.

Sangire quickly walked into Heather’s room. Yuna was still sleeping on the bed. Sangire began to feel a bit guilty before he leaned down and shake the child awake.

“Yuna,” he said, a bit quite. His voice was calm so as not to scare the child. “Yuna get up, we have to go.”

He sat Yuna up and she rubbed her eyes and looked at him curiously. Her light blue eyes looked up at him, she could see though him, and she knew that something was wrong. It was impossible to hid things from the child; she somehow always knew when people where lying no matter how good they were at it. Though she knew that sometimes people lied for a reason, and those reasons should not be pestered or questioned, so she usually accepted those lies and rarely did she question why people did things or told her something.

This was one of the very few moments she questioned what she was told to do.

“Sangire,” Yuna began her voice clear, not confused or unsure. “Where’s mommy? Why are we leaving here, there’s nothing wrong with this place.”

Sangire was caught by surprise. Not by how she spoke to him, he was used to that she spoke like both a five year old and a teenager. She was to be one, but someone had become desperate and blooded her, though no one knew why or who, but everyone wanted to kill the one who did that to her.

Yuna should be about sixteen, but since she was turned at the age of five, her mind set is still there due to the fear she had for so long. She was as smart as an adult, but she spoke like a five year old most of the time around those who she did not know. To those she knew she spoke intelligently and one would be surprised what she knew and how educated she really was.

Sangire didn’t want to lie to Yuna, but if he didn’t she’s be worried. To lie or not to lie, the choice was his and the reaction and time it would take all rested on what he said.

“Heather has left for the castle since she’ll be able to live there in safety and be able to relay information to us and to Selena.” Sangire said looking out the window to make sure no one was coming. “We are going to leave since there are people after us. You need to hurry and change. We need to leave soon; we’re taking the other horse and going to a family I know that will keep you safe.”

Yuna didn’t say a thing; she understood what was going on. Sangire was sending her to go live with humans he trusted and most likely known for a very long time. He was going to give her to them until it was safe for her to be with her family again.

Yuna quickly ran and changed into her dress. Once she was dressed Sangire picked her up and ran down the stairs. The sound of people yelling was heard, the villagers knew they lived there, and now the villagers had betrayed the Ageseru family.

Sangire Ageseru, the head of his family, had failed them so many times. When his father died, a full blooded vampire, Sangire the oldest took over but when he left his mother took the family under her, and bite her own children. She was a cold hearted vampire that the children where happy when she was finally given the death penalty by the vampire council.

Now Sangire was yet again the head of his family, but he had the lives of two people in his hands. If anything happened to them, not just Heather or Yuna, but his other siblings wherever they might be, they blood would be on his hands. He let them go, He didn’t fight to keep them, it was his fault, Sangire knew this, but he knew that it was better for them, some of them needed to be brought up in a better living place.

Now he had to make another choice to give up another child put into his care. Yet again he had to give another one up, to relinquish his caretaking of another two people he loved.

Quickly running out the back Sangire with Yuna in his arms, went into the stable. He set Yuna on the horse before him, and then quickly mounted the horse. He held put his arms to the sides of Yuna, hugging her with his arms to keep her safe. Kicking the horse, Sangire and Yuna went though the stable, the horse running fast. A mob of people with pitch forks and torches ran after the horse thought what they had at the creature.

The horse ran faster then, scared of the things being thrown at it. Though it only one person was hurt. Sangire was hit with an arrow with silver put into the tip. It went though his left arm. He gasped, feeling himself weaken, as he tried to hold on. It was a small amount of silver, but he could feel it taking away some of his strength, If it stayed there too long he knew that more damage would be done.

The horse ran into the woods as Sangire tries to direct it. Yuna looked back at him but he tried to not allow her to see then pain he was in. He looked forward, trying to seem emotionless. He had to get Yuna out of there fast, he had to keep moving, and they could not stop. Until they were safe could Sangire take the pain away, but by then he’d still feel the pain. Not much but it’d still be there. He was only a half vampire so smaller amounts of silver worked wonders in the pain field.

He had to hold it together just for another thirty miles, just thirty miles away from being safe for a while, but where he was going he could only find safety for the night. To find the safety that he needs for the a long amount of time, he’d have to travel father and only hope that he will find grace in the eyes of those superior to him.

Sorry this took a while, I had a LONG weekend and week. I had a paper due last week, a speach due tomorrow, and another paper I have to write tomorrow that I'm so lucky to get extra time on since I was at a retirment yesterday and spent six hours in the car only to spend like three hours at the actual meeting and and party.

Anywho, there's this chapter. Heather will srat the next one and get you through chapter five. Expect that to come up in like a few days, maybe. I have like three or four stories I'm writing and a few more papers and loads of homework so stories will come slowly until maybe a few weeks into summer.

Note
There will be no updates next month for the first two weeks since I will be out of town for like a week in another state for ANOTHER retirment and I will not have access to a computer with my sroties on it unless I find a jump drive for a SD card somewhere around my house and a computer where I'm staying to type the stories up.
So yeah, this might be the last chapter for a while since I have Prom this week, craming for my Exams next week, Exams the week after, and then I'm out of town the week after. Man, loads to do and yet I still find time to wrtie pointless stories. XD
