Ready to Love again by Disneyluver

Summary: This is the third chapter of “Ultimate You”. This specific chapter takes place during early April and early June 2003. I don’t own the “What Makes You Different (Makes You Beautiful” song lyrics which are in bold. The reason I chose this song because of theses three lines in the chorus: When I look at you, I see something rare. A rose that can grow anywhere (grow anywhere). And there's no one I know that can compare . These are actual events that happened to me. I couldn’t think of a better chapter title (it was either this or “Won’t say I’m in love) Names have been changed to protect the innocent and people’s secrecy as well. I wrote this in summer 2004 as my one -year anniversary gift on FictionPress. Please don’t flame me and please read and review. Thank you

April 2003:

I had been thinking about Wally a lot during spring break, about how he said that I looked adorable in my cat suit at the Talent Show. How he said that since I hated Yu-Gi-Oh, he denounced his faith in it. How he came to Lavender dorm every coed visitation to hear me read my stories off of my AlphaSmart.

One day in early April, actually over spring break , I found out that my parents were coming up to visit me at RV. See, they were taking my sister, Rosie to visit all these colleges throughout the United States that she was thinking of applying to and they also were dragging my brother, Chuck along. She eventually went to Skidsprings, a college in New England.

Anyways, when they came to my dorm, all the girls’ jaws dropped when they saw Chuck. You would think that they had never seen a person of the opposite sex before! Diane, a Yu-Gi-Oh & romance novel-loving senior (whom I didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye with) was about to eat a piece of bread when they came in. Her jaw dropped all the way to the floor & she dropped the piece of bread onto the ground. How I wish I had a camera and got a picture of that!

The junior boys all turned into drooling idiots when they saw Rosie. Jerry, or maybe it was Terry, his twin brother, (I always got them mixed up!) even stopped me on the way to Computers the next day

“Hey, Alexis. Does your sister have a boyfriend?” he asked me.

“Uh, not that I know of” I replied.

“your sister is HOT!” he said and somehow I held in my laughter. To this day I don’t even remember how I did it. I think I ended up biting my tongue , running into the bathroom and laughing my head off in there before my class started

My parents wanted to get to know some of my friends so they said that Clair and I could each pick two friends to take to BH, a restaurant near the school. Clair chose two guys that had been with her since her first year: Matty, whom she was dating, and Bert. I chose Mark, a movie fanatic just like me & I also asked Wally.

The problem was that Wally’s girlfriend thought that I should have asked her first before I asked him. She thought that I was trying to steal him from her. I told her that my parents just wanted to meet him and the she started to ramble on about how she should have been invited too, I explained that I could only invite two friends and not the whole junior class. I told her dorm parent, who told her to solve it own her own and she said that we had reached an agreement. One day, she just called my dorm and wanted me to come down to her dorm to talk. I did and then she started to ramble on about how I shouldn’t be trying to steal her boyfriend. She had lied to her dorm parent but then got trouble for lying

When we went to BH, I didn’t feel the butterflies in my stomach like I did on Valentines Day. I guess my old wound had completely healed and now I was ready to love again.

You don't run with the crowd

You go your own way

You don't play after dark

You light up my day

Got your own kind of style

That sets you apart

Baby, that's why you captured my heart

I know sometimes you feel like you don't fit in

And this world doesn't know what you have within

When I look at you, I see something rare

A rose that can grow anywhere (grow anywhere)

And there's no one I know that can compare

What makes you different, (alright) makes you beautiful (alright)

What's there inside you, (alright) shines through to me

In your eyes I see, all the love I'll ever need

You're all I need, oh girl

What makes you different, makes you beautiful to me

Hey, yeah yeah yeah

You got something so real

You touched me so deep (touched me so deep)

See material things

Don't matter to me

So come as you are

You've got nothing to prove

You won me with all that you do

And I wanna take this chance to say to you

What makes you different, (alright, yeah yeah) makes you beautiful (alright)

What's there inside you, (alright) shines through to me

In your eyes I see, all the love I'll ever need

You're all I need, oh girl

What makes you different, makes you beautiful

You don't know (you don't know) how you touched my life (touched my life)

Oh in so many ways (so many ways) I just can't describe

You taught me what love is supposed to be

You saw the little things that make you beautiful to me (so beautiful)

Oh yeah, yeah

What makes you,

What makes you different, (what makes) makes you beautiful (to me)

What's there inside you, (there shines) shines through to me

In your eyes I see, all the love I'll ever need

You're all I need, oh girl

What makes you different, makes you beautiful to me

Everything you do is beautiful (so beautiful)

Love you give shines right through me (shines right through to me)

Everything you do is beautiful (ooh, ooh ooh ooh oh)

Oh, you're beautiful to me (to me)

Whew! I guess you didn’t expect that to happen, did you? Okay, now let’s fast forward to June 2003, but to be more precise, my first RV graduation weekend:

It was my first RV prom and I was kind of nervous as I watched the seniors promenade into the big white tent with their escorts.

This will be me next year, I thought and my mind wandered to thinking about my old classmates, who would be graduating this month. This would have included my ex-boyfriend, Drew, well, if he hadn’t been transferred to another school late last February. I wondered if anybody missed me at all. They never wrote or emailed me. Could they have forgotten me?

“Earth to Alexis. Earth to Alexis. Come back to reality from memory lane.” Someone was nudging me, bringing me out of my thoughts.

“Huh?” I said to the person nudging me. Clair.

“Haven’t you been listening to a word I have been saying? “ she asked me and then she said the nine words that made my night: “Wally broke up with his girlfriend three days ago”.

Those words stayed in my mind throughout the summer, even through the RV summer school session. The only downside was that his ex-girlfriend was in the same dorm with me. It was okay, I guess, but it really got horrible when he called the dorm on her birthday asking to talk to me and she picked up. It was not a pretty sight at all and I wondered would be in store for me during the school year.

The end of this chapter

Author’s notes: How did you like THAT chapter? Kind of strong emotions, I know. What will happen to me now? Only I know what happens since I experienced it first hand. Please read and review!
