There I sat beside you,

There I sat beside you,

Trying desperately to understand.

But my mind couldn’t seem to grasp the concept,

And so frustrated you became.

You tried to make me understand,

But I just couldn’t get it.

I began to feel stupid and ignorant.

As you strove to teach me,

I sat, hurt and confused.

Unnoticed by you, tears pooled in my eyes.

Will you hug me, comfort me—

Tell me that it’s alright?

Will you soothe the crying of my heart,

Ease the weariness of my mind,

Dry the tears in my eyes?

A/N: I think that this was written after my mom tried to explain something to me for school (homeschool, by the way) and I was having some problems. Fortunately, not every day is like that one!
