Medina (attempt 3)

You were that creature I sought

and now the trees mock me

as the storm moves west somehow

we argued about that once

I want the answers no one can seem to provide,

and it’s wet, and how did I end up on Foote?

Triumphs no longer hold the same vocal majesty

Two weeks since I thought I could call this place home

bitterly laughing at my inability to make everything okay

and it’s even more inaccessible now

I slide back along the same road

in the same monsoon from two years ago

but there’s no surprise waiting for me at the end

this was my fun for the evening

(May 3rd, 2008)
