This story is about Nightmare the "house cat" and her trials in her owner's home. Though no one knows Nightmare's biggest secret. It starts out kind of slow, read and reveiw please.
“Nightmare"
“Nightmare? Where is my little Nightmare?” Jane calls out “Where is my sweet little kitty cat? Oh! There you are. How in the world did you get up there on that bookshelf?”
I meow sweetly and jump into my owner’s arms. Jane is almost twelve. She is a little strange according to other people. She has short messy light blonde hair and shocking light blue eyes. Jane is rather pale and most people would say Jane is weak because she looks as if she’s just skin and bone, but Jane is the complete opposite she is very, very strong both physically and mentally.
“Well, my little calico friend guess what happened at school today?” Jane asks as she places me on the bed next to her bookshelf. I meow and tilt my head to one side.
Jane laughs as she takes off her shoes, “well, Mari and Anne joined another group of people today. Of course you know what that means.” Jane becomes silent; I hop off the bed and rub up against her legs whilst purring.
Our family moved houses constantly. Mr. Crosse’s boss kept opening new firms, and it was Mrs. Crosse’s belief that a family should stick together and that moving gave their daughters a wonderful experience.
Mari and Anne are always very popular and well liked wherever they go. Jane on the other hand finds it hard to fit in.
Jane picks me up, “I can always count on you though, can’t I Nightmare.” I meow and rub me head against her cheek. Jane laughs and hugs me. I purr and close my eyes. “Hey now, don’t you go and fall asleep!” Jane squeals holding my up in the air. I yawn. Jane laughs and puts me back on the bed.
“I need to do my homework anyway.”
Jane smiles and pulls out her books and her binder. I gradually fall asleep only to awake when Mrs. Crosse walks in.
“Are you finished with your homework?” Mrs. Crosse asks Jane.
“Almost just one last math problem.” Jane replies as she grabs her calculator
“Well, when you’re done get ready to go to the movies.” Mrs. Crosse says as she leaves the room.
Jane sighs and looks at me, “guess we won’t get to finish that book tonight.” I meow and roll over trying to look cute. Jane shakes her head with a smile, “To cute, you’re just to cute.” A few minutes later Jane and the family leaves the house. I hop off the bed and walk out into the hall and down the stairs.
“Well, well, well, look who’s here Allie.” Mari’s rust colored poodle, right full name Rusty states approaching me. Anne’s dog Allie the chocolate colored Labradoodle jumps down from the couch “Oh my if it isn’t the little kitty… what are you doing down here outside your room? Huh Ms. Kitty?”
I continue walking toward the kitchen.
“Allie, I think we need to teach her a lesson.” Rusty says as he blocks my path. Allie growls, “Your very rude.” Allie bares her teeth, “I don’t like rude cats, Rusty, I think your right. We should teach Ms. Kitty a lesson.”
I tense and growl, “if you lay one of your paws on me you may as well kiss your owners goodbye.”
“Oh my, what are you going to do, huh? How is the little kitty going to back up her threat?” Allie mocks
“She thinks she’s better than us.” Rusty growls.
“Oh no, I don’t think I’m better, I know exactly what Mr. and Mrs. Crosse thinks about animals. You see if I end up hurt by you two, it’ll be off to the pound with you, and we don’t want that do we?” I reply with a flick of my tail. I walk past Rusty and into the kitchen.
I heard Rusty and Allie arguing in the other room before they enter the kitchen. I drank from my water bowl and occasionally I glanced up at the two dogs. I then opened all the food cabinets to see what the Crosse family had as far as moist, delicious food for us “pets”.
“Well, looks like there are some treats in here for all of us, even the bird gets something.” I say as I close the last cabinet.
“Oh, Oh, what is it, what is it?” Rust begs for me to tell him.
Allie whines, “Do tell. We’re very sorry, so very sorry about earlier. You know how it is, being locked up for days with only a few minutes here and there to stretch.”
I head out of the kitchen with both dogs following. I head upstairs and stop outside of Jane’s room. I sigh and flick my tail in agitation, “ Don’t follow me you two. It’s rather annoying, their just normal treats, doggie bones and canned cat food.”
Rusty yips excitedly, “Oh boy, oh boy bones!”
Allie yawns, “we’ll see you later cat. Thanks for telling us the good news.”
I watch as they run down the stairs racing to see who gets the couch first. I enter Jane’s room and walk over onto the bed and curl up at the end next to the bookshelf to wait for Jane.
I stirred a little when Jane entered the room. When Jane crawled into bed I stood up, stretched, and walked over to Jane. I purred into her ear.
Jane laughed and pushed me away “Stop it, that tickles.” Jane picks me up and hugs me, “Time for bed silly so stop it.”
I go limp in her arms as she lays me down next to her “Good kitty. Now go back to sleep.”
I yawn and flick my tail tickling her nose.
“Go to sleep.” Jane says firmly.
I obey and pretend to sleep. I watch over Jane until midnight.
