And we were wanderers,
Long ago
Searching for purpose
Amidst infinite possibility.

We had chosen different paths,
And our hearts were seized
By the world around us.

Not once did we presume
A chance encounter could change
Life as we individually knew it.

Is it not odd
To think
That we once meant nothing
to one another?

Why, it seems
Laughable,
Improbable,
Indistinct,
And utterly impossible…

What we once were,
Compared to what we’ve become.
