A/N: So the idea is to write a bunch of poems using my 'dictionary word for the day' subscription at dictionary(dot)com as inspiration in an effort to improve my English vocabulary and writing at the same time. Will it work and will I keep up with it? That I don't know.
Stoic
Little flickers behind those eyes
As life leaps, twirls
And collapses around them.
They tell little of what lies within
The thoughts of their owner.
The casual bystander
May believe that nothing is shown
Because nothing is felt
Yet it is in that moment
That belying, sharp intake of breath
That gives me pause to similar presumptions
And fills me with depthless curiousity.
How loudly do the echoes resound in the silence?
