The Human Heart

the human heart is an ocean
tumbling and breaking
on broken rocks
turning into sand
open and wide
with nowhere left to go

the human heart is a sky
the sky actually
goes on to eternity
endless and never stopping
limitless unlike the brain
unlike the caged up mind

the human heart is a pendulum
swinging to a silent beat
marching to a ghostly drum
stopping at nothing
because it couldn't
even if it wanted to

the human heart is the universe
there are billions
and billions of stars
yet it's not even close
to filling up
there's still plenty of space

you are the human heart
we all are the human heart
we have hearts and we are hearts
we have nothing to lose
but loss itself
so don't stop at anything
