Chapter 1 of my fable
Ok, well, this was for school. We had to write a fable concerning a current issue/controversy. My issue was bullying, so yeah. I changed it so it wasn’t one long chapter, but a few separate.

Kenny treaded softly through the underbrush, occasionally glancing up to watch the birds flutter and dance in the sky. It was a beautiful day, with a light breeze that could only be felt outside of the dense forest. As a fawn, Kenny had frolicked in the meadows and chased butterflies on such days. Unfortunately, Blake and his pack of wolves chose him as their next victim of frequent teasing.
‘“What’s with those knobby knees Kenny? You couldn’t escape me even if you tried!”’ They would say. Sometimes they watched him, grinning like mad and snickering.
He stopped. A twig had snapped behind him and Kenny sensed another presence. It wasn’t unusual that there were other animals traveling through the forest, but Kenny knew this distinct smell--the wolves.
“Hey, Kenny, such a beautiful day isn’t it?” Blake’s sly voice cut through his thoughts. Kenny knew he should run, but he was paralyzed. The pack just laughed and whispered snide comments regarding bucks and cowardliness.
Kenny found his voice and glowered at the pack. “Well, if bucks are cowardly, that must mean you’re stupid.”
Blake smirked. “Oh, so the little man found his voice eh?” He continued, “We never said all bucks were cowardly--just you.” Kenny realized his mistake but Blake was already gone.
“What a disgrace.”
That statement struck Kenny hard. As he numbly walked toward his home, he brushed past Lila, a French-Canadian moose who spoke little English. Lila was not too smart and her questions always reflected that.
“How was your games with Blake?”
Kenny hesitated, realizing she had no idea what happened. “Um, well, it was…fun.”
She looked pleased with his answer, strolling away. Once he entered his cave of bushes, Kenny let go of his emotions. He eventually drifted off to sleep, salty tears still streaming down his face.
