And the waters rained down upon the earth to extinguish the fires of evil, but one flame would not die.

Such is the story of a man understood. A man not in his time and always pursued for doing what was right. In a world ruled by the aristocrats a commoner defied law and logic, he thought for himself. He was captured and sealed away for centuries frozen in time, until the world would understand his ways.

Well, now is the time for the return of the knight apparent. The age of war is upon us.

We started the excavation a month ago and we were barely into the lower part of the town. A farmer had discovered some bones when he was plowing his field and we came out to check for more. Little did we know we’d find an ancient city buried under that poor patch of earth. Right now we were working on the remnants of the castle at the center of the town. Most of the stones had been lost to time but the dungeons were still intact.

“Mary, you’d better come look at this,” someone shouts from down below.

Great some rookie thinks he’s found something “important” again. Like this will be the find of the century and I simply must applaud them for their efforts. Give me a break.

I walk into the dungeon and find who was shouting, “what do you want Chris?”

“Ma’am, we found a sealed door down here,” he replies.

“Well open it you fool, let’s see what’s inside,” I order.

He and another one of the workers pulls back the bar holding the door and the heave it open. At first I thought it would be just another empty cell, boy was I wrong. Whence that door was open enough to let light in a might roar erupted from within. The very stones shook and people began running about like chickens with their heads cut off.

“Settle down people,” I shout but nobody listens.

Whatever’s in that cell has been there a long time. And it’s definitely not happy. I walk out of that dungeon right quick and phone the proper authorities. We evacuate the entire dig and wait for them to do their job.

We watch and wait as the police try to make sense of the situation. One of the peons comes up and tells me it’s a man in there and that the he’s chained to the wall. They’re trying to extract him from the site but the chains are old and very strong.

It takes a few hours for the police to extract the man from his cell, and it takes quite a bit of time just to get him under control and into the armored truck.

And away they drive, but they won’t let it drop; the cop from before walk back up to me.

“Hello again ma’am, since he hasn’t cause a real ruckus or done anything illegal we can’t arrest him. But we can detain him until you find a secure facility. Since he was found at a dig site, technically he’s an artifact and your property,” he says and just walks off before I can respond.

What am I going to do with a man from ancient times? Oh well, nothing to do now but go back to work.
