Treading in Fatal Waters
Like a dagger you pierced me
Rubbed salacious ooze deep into invisible wounds.
I had to flee, before you knew everything,
Before the power you command over me became evident,
Before you smelled the blood of isolation and spirals wrought from Hell.
Innocence is so sweet, yet you have no idea what such naivety brings
Your intention was not to strike as a whip to the tortured
Yet mere tomfoolery I have allowed to burn, blackening every bit of flesh
Charred ruins curling in the licking heat which would poison your eyes
I must keep you from what I truly am.
My own innate weakness is why your poking stick has sharpened with mortal cruelty
The façade keeps your mind unknowing and your soul unmarred
The depicted mirage of life and love and contentment
No one sees the ghost.
With your dagger, the wall crumbles at your feet
Danger and devastation lie within your grasp
You will not know.
I vow to save you.
Turn away from the agony of chains you cannot comprehend, cannot imagine
Walk free, walk on
Don’t come back for me.
“Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.”
