Eucharist

Eyes open

He can heal the blind

Now I see

The paten is placed lightly in my palm

As I bring it to my lips and taste,

Explosion, energy, life

For the first time I can hear a voice, a presence calling me

I understand.

Much later, I finally complete my ritual.

The blood passes my tongue

The day my Uncle is indoctrinated a pastor

I can see the light

I can feel the tears

I can hear His call

I can taste love.

The next year I become a server

Before the altar I bow

The light, tears, and heart pulsate

When I answer the call

I begin to sing great hymns of love

To Christ the King in Heaven above

Six years later…

The call is faint

Blocked by the world.

I crave mercy

From what I’ve done

Give me strength to feel again

Body and Blood of the Son of Man

Heal my soul.

“I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.”

I want to come back Jesú

I know I am yours.
