.

I saw a flower in the field

Swaying in the wind

I placed my fingers under the petals

I wanted to take it home

Let it stay next to me

So that I can admire it when I fall asleep

And gaze upon it as I wake

I wanted to keep it for myself

But I saw the pain it brings

If I pulled her now

she would die in two weeks

And if I let it go

It would last a lifetime

But not with me

I stood there with my fingers under her petals

To take her in my arms

would let her die

To leave her there in the field

Would mean that she could never be with me

I made a choice

She was beautiful

And will always be

She may never be mine

She will do nothing for me

But I will protect her

And still keep her so free

She may never be mine

But she is still all I see

Blossom my rose

Show the world your lovely color

I will stay here in this field

To protect you like no other

You mayn’t know I exist

But I will always be here

You mayn’t care who I am

But as I’ve said many times

You have nothing, ever to fear.
