Stuck In Your Yesterday

Chapter One

Sammy stood in the boys’ bathroom after school, admiring his straight black hair and the new bright blue hoodie that complemented it. His ice blue eyes shone back at him as he finished applying a thin layer of eyeliner just beneath his eyes.

“You are so emo,” a feminine voice teased, and he rolled his eyes as Meg took a seat on the counter at which he stood.

He stood back and took a look at her, as if sizing her up.

“Am not,” he murmured, flicking some water from his fingertips over to her waiting figure.

She laughed, turning on the faucet next to her, ready for a battle if need be.

“Oh, yeah? I mean, you sure have got that look going and everything…” she let her voice drift off.

He narrowed his eyes, “Well, you are so normal.”

She gave a mock gasp, “Me? Normal? You wish you were as cool as me.”

He smiled, drying off his hands as she turned off the running water. No battle today.

This was their everyday ritual; a meeting in the boys’ restroom, for which they had never once gotten caught.

Sammy turned and wrapped his arms around his best friend, smiling.

“Did you have a good day?”

She sighed, hugging him back.

“About as eventful as it gets, I suppose.”

“Know what you mean. Teachers gave me hell all day…I’m just ready to get out of this dump,” he told her.

“Well then let’s not wait another minute,” she grinned, pulling him out of the restroom and into the busy halls of their school.

People scrambled to get things out of their lockers as fast as possible, as if they would contract a disease if they didn’t get out of the school doors as soon as possible. Meg sort of felt the same way, but she felt the itch for an entirely different reason than the rest of the teenagers probably did.

“So what’s the brilliant plan for today?” Sammy asked, looping his arm through his best friend’s as they made their way outside of the school building.

She rested her head on his shoulder, “I don’t know…the usual movie? I know you love those chick flicks.”

Meg grinned, knowing he actually did like them, but hated to be teased for liking them.

“Shut up, Meg,” he said, pushing her to the side a bit.

“Fine. I’ll run home alone, then.” She stuck her tongue out for dramatic effect and proceeded to run in the direction of her house.

“Meg! Come back here!” Sammy shouted, picking up the pace himself so as not to lose sight of her.

Not that he really needed to keep sight of her. He’d been to her house so many times it was impossible to keep count. But the truth was he really cared about her, and couldn’t stand for anything bad to happen to Meg. If a car was about to run her over, well one could bet money he’d want to be there to save her.

That’s just the type of best friend he was.

Upon entering Meg’s fairly large abode, Sammy took off his shoes and went into the kitchen.

“What? No fruit?” he asked with a disappointed voice.

“Sorry, my mother hasn’t ‘found the opportunity’ to shop in days,” Meg mumbled, opening the fridge and taking out a yogurt.

“Why do you eat so healthily?” Sammy asked, spotting the item in her hand.

“Asks the one who is complaining about there being no fruit,” she responded with another flat tone.

“Well, you’re healthy enough; you don’t need to eat any more healthily.”

“Is that an indirect way of calling me on-the-border anorexic?” she asked with a gasp.

“Meg, of course not. You’re just…you’ve got a perfect figure, I don’t know why you choose to worry so much.”

She rolled her eyes. “Sure your girlfriend wouldn’t disapprove of you saying something like that to me?”

“Course not. Katie knows how much I adore you.”

“Anyway, I choose to ‘worry so much’ because I don’t want to be one of those girls who stuffs her face now, and ten years down the road when she is obese regrets those horrible things she ate when she were younger. I’m changing the future before the future has a chance to change me,” she explained, digging a spoon into the strawberry yogurt and taking a bite.

Sammy shook his head, smiling. “You won’t be.”

“But what if I am?”

“What if you get run over by a car tomorrow? Meg, life is full of surprises and unknowns. You can’t constantly worry about them, or you won’t enjoy what you have,” Sammy shrugged, moving into the living room.

She finished her food and then moved into the living room to join him.

“I think I’ll actually go change first, get comfy for our movie,” she said, smiling. “Want to come?”

He quirked an eyebrow, “So I can watch you change?”

She laughed, “No, silly. Movies are in my room, remember? You can pick out one.”

He nodded, “Oh, right. But…you never let me pick out one!”

“Well, I feel extra nice today, how’s that?”

She moved down the hallway toward her bedroom, a place Sammy actually didn’t get to go into very often. Even though he was her best friend, her parents were still strict about allowing any members of the opposite sex into her room, and for the most part she’d tried to abide by their rules. The consequences simply weren’t worth the risk.

Meg opened her door and Sammy came in after her. He looked around the room, impressed that it was actually pretty neat. At least since he’d last had the privilege to be in it.

“Movies are in the cabinet there,” she said, pointing toward a large oak structure to the side of the room. It was more of a bookcase, but Sammy didn’t feel the need to correct her right then.

“Got it,” he replied, his eyes already scanning the titles for something that looked appealing.

Meg opened a drawer and pulled out a tank top as she pulled her current shirt over her head.

Sammy caught sight of her toned stomach out of the corner of his eye and couldn’t help but look over at her.

Damn, was all his mind could come up with.

His eyes roamed over the black bra that perfectly held her breasts in place, making them look absolutely flawless. He didn’t know when she’d become so full in the chest, but he wanted to kick himself for wondering in the first place.

Meg caught him looking and rolled her eyes.

“What? Never seen a girl in a bra before?” she teased.

He averted his eyes, embarrassed. “O-of course not,” he stuttered, trying to recover. “Katie has exposed herself many times.”

“Mmhmm, I’m sure.”

“Why do you say it like that?” he asked, wanting to defend his girlfriend.

“Oh, nothing. It’s just that…hate to break it to you, buddy, but your girlfriend is kind of known to have a bit of a…well, slutty reputation.”

“Hmm. I had no idea,” he replied sarcastically.

She unhooked her bra and placed it on the bed, knowing that Sammy’s eyes would widen immediately. Which they totally did.

Her top half now fully exposed, she raised an eyebrow at him.

“Bet you’ve never seen boobs this real,” she teased again. She wasn’t really ashamed to be showing off herself like this. After all, he was just her best friend…right? Her breasts were still what they were when she was younger…just, bigger now.

Sammy inevitably found his breath catching in his throat, not sure what the appropriate response should be to that statement. Regardless, he found himself staring at her boobs in a way a best friend should completely not be staring.

She’s beautiful. But you’ve got a girlfriend.

He finally, if painfully, tore his eyes away from her figure and focused them back on her extensive movie collection.

“Cover up, Meg. We’ve got a movie to watch before I have to go meet Katie.”

Meg frowned, secretly hoping he didn’t have to go. For once, she wished he’d stay.

She saw the look in his eyes that she’d wanted to see for a long time.

A simple word beginning with a K would keep her from seeing it again for awhile.

A/N:

New story! This one is very, very special to me because it’s inspired and some parts sort of co-written by my own real Sammy. :-)

Please give me some feedback.

I really hope you enjoy this story. I’m very excited to see where it goes. Bear with me while I try to wrap up my senior year of high school and juggle writing too. It’s a very stressful time, but I’m trying to have some fun as well.

Love to all,

xoxo HopelessDreamer07
