The Heartbroken Captain.
Oh, tell me good sir of your fine tale
And leave not a detail out
For we poor souls wish to know
What misfortunes lurk about.
T’was a dark and stormy night
A thousand years ago
When a sailor on his ship
Searched of hidden gold.
This captain traveled far and wide
North and East and South.
Along the waves to hidden caves
To sure to be in doubt.
And though he found all manner of things
No man has ever known
His heart still longed for greater wealth
Than jewels and precious stones.
Then on one forgotten shore
He ran aground one day
There he met a fair, young lass
Who stole his heart away.
And on the morrow she was gone
Never to be seen again.
But that is how the greedy fall
To the call of the Siren.
Oh, tell me good sir of your fine tail
And do not leave a detail out
For we poor souls wish to know
What fortunes lurk about.
A/n: I’m not entirely sure what possessed me to write this since it’s not my usual genre or style. Parts just popped into my head and I filled it out to make sense. In some parts the rhyme scheme seemed a bit off to me, but it helps if you read it as if it were lyrical, I think. I should be asleep right now. Thanks for reading.
