An Ode to Aches and Pains

Almighty Lord of muscle cramps,
How often must you seize?
My foot feels pain like volts and amps;
Make it stop, oh please?

Almighty Lord of pins and such,
And maybe needles too,
My jaw was numb from dawn to lunch,
And now it hurts to chew.

Almighty Lord of cracking joints,
Are there no limits here?
Fingers, toes, knees, hips and spine,
And elbows, neck, wrists—hear?

Almighty Lord of this migraine,
Have I done you some wrong?
I’d like to see and think while sane;
The pain has been here long.

Almighty Lord of sleepless nights,
How restless must I be?
I want to sleep without these fights,
And dream of calm in me.
