Waiting for you,
In early morning light.
The cobblestones
Of a private school,
Dance beneath my feet.

I see you there,
Among the crowd,
A head above the rest.
Stomach doing somersaults
And my heart drops to my feet.

With curly hair I long to touch,
And pale blue ocean eyes.
And as you break into a smile,
A gleam of pearly white,
I’m melting in your radiance
Hold me up, I’ve lost my will to stand.

The calloused hands,
And muscled arms.
With baggy pants and skater shoes,
Chain-link jewels,
And studded belts.
Zippo lighters in long black pockets,
And poetry in folder files.
Sketches in the locker hall,
And guitar picks in leather wallets.

A boy of many talents,
It seems too good to be,
But true it is, and good for me.
You are you, your own, unique.
But mine, my own, my only.

My love, your love
With hugs and hearts,
And stolen kisses,
Behind the gym.
Late night heart-to-hearts,
On phone bills run too high.
Blushing compliments,
And obvious facts
Of simple brilliance
And true-blue beauty.

So now I ask,
With a nervous thought:
Will you, my love,
My joy, my life,
Go to morp with me?
