The Signal

The TV turns off and I'm lonely again
Echoes of dark eyes fade from my mind
Impure but empty is the heart of this age
The fabled soul is left far behind

Living in the land of locusts and lead poisoning
Our crumpled forms roam on scabbed chicken legs
Lungs full of syrup, we're dreaming, just dreaming
While our brains departed with the first electric signal

A run-on sentence in human history
Dynamic hearts are tuned to static
Your music was the last I heard til you were lost
I had some choice words for you but they don't matter now

So I'll let you fade, remove the clutter from my head
Fighting on my own for some reprieve
When sound (obsolete) gives way to the visual on the screen (your brain)
I'll sing to my own new single, distorted chord
