AN: Been a while since I've posted something. My muses decided to take a vacation on Drasa Wars, but managed to supply me with this story. Here's the prologue for my new story. R&R dozo and arigato.
Space- Above Earth
The ship sat in orbit above the blue and green planet. Like a stereotypical UFO it was disk shaped, but was a pearlescent purple instead of the usual grey. The exterior lights were off for a better chance of avoiding detection by the planet’s occupants. For all intents and purpose the ship appeared to be dead. Indeed it technically was since the occupants were in the deep sleep of stasis used only for long journeys through space.
The ship sat in orbit for one rotation of the planet with no obvious signs of alarm from the planet. An almost inaudible alarm sounded throughout the ship.
In the stasis chamber five sleeping pods hissed open as their seals were released. The occupants of said pods began to groggily shake themselves awake. They all looked to be a mix of dragon and human morphology, but there is where all resemblances ended even with each other.
The first to pull them self from their pod was a large male with skin the pale white color of the purest beach. He stood at least six and a half feet tall and had a wingspan to match. He had an air of command about him, even while still under the effects of stasis, that he was easy to distinguish as the leader of the group. The scars and leathery quality of his skin also showed him to be the oldest of the group.
“Up and at ‘em, lazy tails”, the creature said to the rest of the room. “We’ve arrived at the planet.”
His voice slowly roused a second male from the fog of stasis sleep and received a less than enthusiastic ‘yay’. The green skinned male shook his head in a dog like fashion sending his long, brown hair flying around his head before he took a step out of his pod. Sleep still held obvious sway over his head for he tripped over his own tail and ended up face down on the floor.
“Why do we have to come here and study these creatures again?” the green male asked not getting up from the floor, but stretching his own considerable wingspan across the floor.
“Because they are the first race we’ve found that comes anywhere close to our intelligence, Chi-san”, replied a red-skinned female as she made a more graceful exit from her pod. She stood somewhat shorter than the two males, but was just as impressive as she strode over the green skinned male and pulled him up off the floor. “If you paid better attention during briefing, you might remember some of this stuff, little brother.”
Chi-san grinned. “And deprive you of the fun you obviously get from reminding of everything? Nah, I’ll let you have your fun.”
“When you two are done with your tail slamming contest, we need to go over the data Zoc collected during our trip here”, came a surly female voice from one of the still occupied pods. The cobalt-skinned creature pushed herself from the pod and stretched as she walked over to the last occupied pod. She tapped on the pod’s glass cover as she glared over her shoulder at the two siblings. “We really don’t have time to waste on your two’s trivial games, so shut up and move you tails to the bridge before I kick them there.”
“What time is it?” came a groggy voice from the last pod.
“Time for you to rise, sunshine” the cobalt female, quipped as she stepped back from the pod.
A yellow skinned male pulled himself from the pod and cast a tired glance at the cobalt-skinned female. “You can quit with the Earth jokes. They’re not that funny.”
With that the creatures fell into a haphazard line and walked through the ship towards the bridge. When they reached the bridge, they fanned out to computer stations spread around the room. The older creature took a seat in the captain’s chair and pressed a couple of buttons on the arm.
“Zoc, information analysis from beginning of stasis to present.”
“Affirmative, Shiro”, a computerized voice responded. “Subject species appears to be slightly less advanced that the Ryana, though they have made many technological advances since the first sighting and most of it was done in the time it took for us to reach the planet. As a whole, the subject species is rather hostile especially towards that which they deem to be new, different, or against societal norms. It would be advised that all crew wear holo bands while making any surface contact. All scans indicate that the subject species does not seem to be aware of our presence, even though they are capable of such detection. They currently number in the billions and inhabit much of the usable land on the planet.
“The subject species has many languages and regional dialects. Their system of trade and equivalency is much more complicated that that of the Ryana. They focus a lot on time as well, but that can be discussed after plans are made for surface contact.”
“What about weapon capabilities?” the white-skinned male, Shiro, asked.
“They have yet to develop energy weapons, as the Ryana have, so they depend mostly upon projectile weapons that are infinitely more deadly. They also have long and short-range missiles that are capable of killings thousands. They have nuclear power and the capability of using said nuclear power as a weapon to kill hundreds of thousands of people and the planet.”
“What a barbaric species”, the red-skinned female commented. “Why would any civilized species wish to kill themselves off?”
“That’s something you can figure out while we’re here, Den-san”, Tsuchi responded.
Before anything else could be said, lights started flashing on all the screens and alarms filled the rooms. Everyone in the room jumped to look at their screens.
“Shiro, we an incoming object that Zoc identifies as one of the human’s cruise missiles.” The dark female called out. “The humans must’ve become aware of us shortly after entering orbit for them to take action this quickly.”
“Can we avoid the missiles, Tei?” Shiro asked calmly, looking at a display by his left arm.
“Negative, sir. The humans aimed well” the yellow male replied. “We’d have to completely abort the mission and warp not advised this close to the planet.”
“Damage projection, Yoru.”
“We have projected loss of main engines, the warp drive, and the main stabilizers”, the dark female responded. “We’re going to crash into the planet.”
“All right, everyone brace yourselves.” Shiro said, strapping himself into his seat. “Zoc, once the missile hits, take measures to ensure as safe a landing as possible.”
“Affirmative.”
Down on the planet’s surface, those that cared to looked to the sky to see what they believed to be a meteorite fall to the planet. The next day astrological enthusiasts talked about the incident, but by the following week even the most die-hard fanatic had all but forgotten the incident.
