I’m lying here awake again it seems
Counting off the clock and in betweens
The second hand is striking down again
Like a chisel on my furrowed open stare
Torn into a myriad of swirling memories
Fast asleep and wandering to yesterday
You yawn and curl the other way from me
I know somewhere the truth lies in between
Where I lay here and where it is you dream
In the silence and the cold lying next to you
As a chilling breeze is slipping through the glass
For the dreams just get so twisted now it’s scary
Surely even more than when I slept alone
The truth lies in the calling of the night storms
In the darkness I wipe dry my tearing eyes
So black and tired from the circles of dancing in between
Then suddenly from the stillness you wake to look at me
Startled in the silence I whisper back to you the truth
That no good can come from lying when you are wide awake
