We are the shattered glass of god
Fragments of the super whole
Each a demigod of creative energy
Superseded by their lust and tyranny
We to wed each other as a symbol
Of the greater goal to reunite
And in that simple meaningful moment
We turn it over for a second’s passion
Realizing the need to join with every other
The way a child loves its mother
Begs its father to hold its hand
In times before and times within
When falling meant a bruise and bleed
But falling not as falling herein lies
Fallen as a god, the wine glass shattered
And of the wine spent listlessly in vain
Drunken in the evenings long and dark
Wasted as a beggar to bender stays
All was never like this in those days
The wine of that which the glass does hold
And water to our bodies that which all we are
Is the wine of the earth and in harmony we be
And to the glass of god, that god be whole
Containing within it the wine in blood are we
Crashing down upon the earth as men
We are the shattered glass of god.
