OPENING CREDITS

Riley sits in front of his parents grave. He's leaning his head on his knees. He looks up, tears rolling down his face. a hooded man walks up behind him and puts a gun to his head. Close up on the trigger. The man squeezes and Riley shoots up from the bed. He looks around his room and sighs. He looks over at the clock and it says 12:30.

RILEY

Merda...

Slams his pillow into his face.

The Crew

A round table in a restaurant with four guys around it. They all have coffee. They're all laughing and talking. Riley is leaning in his chair smiling, just listening.

JORGE

What do you mean by that?

CHARLIE

Exactly what I mean there needs to be more concentration on making a new energy source to replace gas.

JORGE

Ay que loco new source! If I can't drive my low-rider I'm gonna take the environment with me!

CHARLIE

Can't you see there isn't a constant source of oil and we can't be depending on the Middle East.

GUS

He's got a point Jorge.

JORGE

Your just taking his side 'cause your Jewish.

GUS

Yah it's 'cause I'm Jewish. We're evil and out to get the middle eastern oil! Now if you excuse me I got to take my paycheck to my rabbi! Let me guess next your gonna say it's cause I'm black

(stands up looking down on Jorge)

JORGE

Oh chill homes I didn't mean it like that!

(holds his hands up in defense)

GUS

(laughs)

Look at him crying like a girl.

JORGE

I know better than to mess with you when there's a knife right there.

Riley

He gonna give you clippin' boyo

(makes scissors with his fingers.)

JORGE

Madre de Dios

(does a cross with his hand. Riley does the same.)

RILEY

Well boys I have to do something before we go to work.

(Stands up while saying it. Pulls out a wallet and throws money onto the table.)

JORGE

You need a ride homes?

RILEY

Don't worry Jorge. I'll walk.

Chance encounter

Riley downs the rest of his coffee and walks away pulling on a leather jacket. He walks out and looks around. Different scenes of him walking. He stops into a flower shop and comes out with a red and white rose. He opens a gate. Zoom out to view a cemetery sign. He walks through the cemetery. He stops at an angel statue and places the roses at its feet. He takes a knee, does the cross and begins to mumble a prayer. Rose walks around the corner and sees him. She leans against a tree (or whatever) and waits. A tear roles down his face. He does the cross again (saying amen) and stands up breathing deeply. He turns towards her and nods at her. He walks over to a crypt and sits on the steps. She walks over and sits next to him.

ROSE

Hey.

RILEY

Hey Rose.

ROSE

How you doing?

RILEY

Alright I guess, just saying a prayer for me folks.

ROSE

It's been 5 years hasn't it?

RILEY

Today.

ROSE

Riley I considered you and your parents like family. You've been like my big brother over the years. So I know what your feeling but you need to get over this obstacle.

RILEY

Yea like me dad used to say: If you can't walk across the river, then swim. If you can't swim, then row. If you can't row, then build a bridge.

ROSE

He was a great man.

RILEY

And very proud...

ROSE

Whenever I needed advice you've always been there for me. Now I have some for you, you should leave the Lombardi Family.

RILEY

What? No Absolutly not.

ROSE

Please Riley, it's going to get you killed.

RILEY

No I owe Giovanni to much to leave.

ROSE

Riley.

A cell phone rings. Riley pulls out his phone and opens it.

RILEY

Yea?

GIOVANNI

Where are you?

RILEY

On my way.

GIOVANNI

Good.

RILEY

(hangs up)

We'll talk about this later I have to go.

(hugs her and walks away.)

Don Lombardi

Riley walks through a fenced area to a heavy door and knocks. Giovanni is sitting in a control room and looks at him on the tv. Riley hears a buzzing sound and the door opens. He walks into the control room

GIOVANNI

Your late cugino.

RILEY

When am I not?

GIOVANNI

Still funny.

RILEY

So what do you need?

GIOVANNI

You, cugino, I need you.

RILEY

What do you need me for?

GIOVANNI

I need you to pick up something from an associato of mine. Go to Heritage park at midnight. His name is Ricco

As he says this,it fades to view the park sign, Riley looking at a his watch while leaning against a tree. a hooded man comes out of the shadows.

RICCO

You Riley?

RILEY

You Ricco?

RICCO

Your boss told me you'd be here.

RILEY

He's not my boss. He's my cousin.

RICCO

Cousin huh? Never would have thought you two were cousins.

RILEY

It's through my mother now do you have what I need?

RICCO

Yah, yah, here

(hands it to him)

Be very careful with that and make sure it makes it to Giovanni's hands only.

RILEY

I know that's why I'm taking it off your hands.

RICCO

Right.

In the shadows a jeep sits. Detective Lopez takes photos of them in the dark. Next to her is Detective Cyrus. Riley throws the bag over his shoulder and walks down the sidewalk.

LOPEZ

Let's go.

(they drive off)

Riley's house

Riley tosses and turns in his bed. There's a woman screaming and a gunshot and he shoots straight up. He looks around and breathes heavily. Riley sits on the edge of the bed. He looks out the window and sighs. Turning back around, he fiddles with his father's wedding ring. He gets up and walks into the kitchen pouring a cup of coffee. There's a creek and he looks into the other room. The door is open and he turns around seeing Cyrus with a gun in his face. Riley out blocks the gun away from his face and judo throws Cyrus. He disarms Cyrus and holds it to Cyrus's temple. A gun lowers to the back of Riley's head

LOPEZ

Drop the gun.

Riley whips around and holds the gun to her chin.

RILEY

What the hell are you doing in my house?!

LOPEZ

Now calm down Mr.O'nolen I doubt you want life for murdering 2 detectives.

Riley pulls the gun away and walks to his coffee.

RILEY

What do you want Lopez?

LOPEZ

We just need to talk to you

RILEY

What am I being deported? 'Cause I'm a legal citizen here.

LOPEZ

It's not about you, it's about your cousin Giovanni.

RILEY

What about him?

(turns around)

LOPEZ

We know he had you pick up a bag. Do you know what's in it?

RILEY

It's not my business.

CYRUS

Murder weapons. Guns, knives. The works.

RILEY

So you going to arrest me Cyrus? We both know how that almost went.

LOPEZ

Look, we came to make you a deal and also to tell you about one of those weapons.

RILEY

Well start talking.

LOPEZ

This is gonna be hard for you I know... The Russian never killed your parents. We found his body the day before it happened. Riley, your cousin murdered your parents.

RILEY

Thats impossible. I watched him shoot them. I watched him drive away for God sakes!

LOPEZ

That was an imposter. We caught Ricco trying to get away after he gave you the bag. He confessed Riley! He was the one who shot your parents under the order of Giovanni!

Riley sits on the couch and runs his hand through his hair.

RILEY

What's your deal then?

CYRUS

You help us bring the Lombardi family down and you won't be charged.

LOPEZ

What do you say?

RILEY

Only on two more conditions: My crew isn't charged and I get Giovanni.

LOPEZ

Deal.

CYRUS

You can't do that, Lopez!

LOPEZ

Riley shot in self defense and the crew were retiring right Riley?

RILEY

Ay.

CYRUS

But..

LOPEZ

Lets go Cyrus.

They begin to leave. Riley stands.

RILEY

You forgot something.

Riley throws the gun to Cyrus and they leave. Riley sits in the chair looking at the bag in the corner. He stands up and grabs the bag. He flips on the light and places the bag on the table. Riley opens the bag slowly and pulls out a gun. Riley closes his eyes and a tear roles down his cheek. He ejects the mag checking the gun and slides the mag back in. Riley extends is arm, holding the gun steady.

RILEY

Bang.

Judas

He begins preparing and getting dressed. He loads his gun and places it in his holster. He places the other gun in the back of his pants. Riley throws on a leather jacket and puts his sunglasses on. He leaves and walks to Giovanni's place. He slowly walks up to the door and knocks. It buzzes and he walks in. Riley places the bag on his cousins desk and looks him in the eye.

RILEY

There it is.

GIOVANNI

Grazie Cugino, I don't know who else I could have trusted.

RILEY

You could've had Ricco bring it here.

GIOVANNI

No he is not trustworthy.

RILEY

Right, right. Giovanni I had another nightmare about my parents last night. Tell me again what you did to the Russian.

GIOVANNI

We took care of him good. Dumped him in the river after we finished.

RILEY

A day before he killed my parents.

GIOVANNI

Che Cosa?

Riley grabs Giovanni and slams him against the door.

RILEY

Don't screw with me Cugino! You know exactly what I say!

GIOVANNI

Riley please!

(Riley slams him again)

Bene! Bene, I'll talk. I killed your parents! Me! I had Ricco be the Russian and shoot your parents!

RILEY

Why Maledizione? Why?

GIOVANNI

It was Padre's last wish. He wanted your mother dead because she married your father!

RILEY

Uncle Jeano...

Alarms go off. Giovanni punches Riley and runs out the door. Detective Lopez and Cyrus run down the side of the building with Riley's crew. Two men with guns come running around the corner. They open fire on the four. Lopez is shot in the arm, and they pull her behind a jeep.

LOPEZ

Maldita sea! God that hurts!

CYRUS

Just relax we'll call back up.

LOPEZ

Screw that!

(takes Cyrus's gun and moves away from the jeep. She opens fire on the two men. One is shot and the other runs away.)

Move, Move!

Cuts to Giovanni running into the street and behind the dump gate. Riley comes running and slows down as he passes the gate. Giovanni grabs Riley and slams him into the wall. He punches riley in the stomach twice before riley throws an elbow into his face. Riley throws a series of punches and a knee. He backs away and butterfly kicks Giovanni, who stumbles backwards into the ground. He backs up assuming a fight stance. Giovanni staggers up slowly. The other man runs around the corner and stops seeing Riley. He lifts his gun and pulls the trigger. Riley is shot twice and kneels on the ground.

GIOVANNI

Mettere fino lo!

The man tries shooting again, but the gun is out of ammo. Riley touches his back then pulls his hand back. His hand is covered in blood. The man is in slow motion pulling a handgun out. Giovanni rises, also in slow mo, pulling a knife. Riley has flash backs of him and his parents, him and Rose, and then him and his crew. Riley pulls his gun out of its holster and shoots the man. He twists around pulling out the murder gun. He turns, facing Giovanni running towards him and shots him in the leg. Giovanni falls to his knees and Riley stumbles up. He places the gun in Giovanni's chest.

GIOVANNI

Come on Cugino.

Riley pulls the trigger and Giovanni falls in front of Riley's feet. Riley staggers backwards and looks around. "In Time" by Mark Collie is playing. He turns seeing the four walking towards him. Riley looks up and falls backwards. Charlie and Rose come pulling up in a truck and Rose runs to Riley. She kneels down next to him. His eyes are closed and he's dead. Rose lays her arms and head on his chest. Fades out and into a landscape shot of a cemetery. The whole group walks up to a grave in black. A bagpiper comes up behind the grave playing amazing grace. Fades out into credits.
