Part 1
For Heaven and Hell collide
Chapter 1
Samantha, losing ground, looked ahead. Down the long corridor, she saw Kayna running, “Wait up!” she yelled breathlessly.
“Fuckin move it, we don’t have time!” Kayna yelled, coming to a bit of a slow run, stopping slightly as she saw the darkness following the two. “We have to get out of here!”
Kayna Lead the way threw the long twisting corridor. High plastered walls surrounded the two on both sides. The walls were at one time an off-white color, but due to little or no light, faded into a gloomy grayish tint. She heard her own running trail as she quickly swept over and threw the unknown passages. The hospital walls seemed to be endless, though they kept going, with no hope to end. The features of this section were bleak. They hadn’t much emotion to them. The atmosphere was different. Stale. Old.
Suddenly, Kayna saw up ahead two doors, leading into yet another unknown destination. She hurried, looking back to see Samantha struggling. As she came farther and farther upon the doors, she stopped. She heard Samantha’s breathless shouting tracing into her thoughts. “Wait up.”
Samantha quickened her pace to regain her place with Kayna. The two girls quickly looked at each other, as the lights of the building were shutting off just moments behind them.
“Where do we go,” Samantha whispered in a terrified voice.
“Just follow me.”
Kayna ran forward, grasping the cold handle of the door tightly. She noticed the severity of how cold it was, even as to how warm she was momentarily. Quickly she turned away from Samantha. Tightening her grip on the door handle, she twisted it.
Surprised, she threw back the door, as a warm breeze of air jolted her in the face. Kayna walked into the room, startled from what she saw, the lights, were that of the early 2000’s, she hadn’t seen lights like the ones overhead since her father took her to the “early days” show. It was a mystery as to why this room’s lights were the way they were. She took a solemn look around her perimeter, noticing the layers of what appeared to be dust on the walls. Surprisingly, there was no other furniture other than an old table with a cover of some sort draped over it.
Realizing that Samantha had entered the room, Kayna quickly hurried out the rod-iron door on the far side of the room. Again, the door was un-locked.
Samantha and Kayna continued threw the narrowing corridors, stopping only briefly when Kayna dropped the photo from her tote-bag. Suddenly, they came to a large rusty rod-iron door. Kayna tried the door, but with no luck, hurried off in the direction she had come. Samantha followed behind.
Moments later Kayna looked back, to see Samantha’s body heavily fall to the floor. She saw the dark shadow of which had been following the two, overtake her body, burning, eating away at the flesh. She heard the screams as Samantha slowly died. Kayna watched the girl she had known for so little time, slowly perish into the depths of hell. She saw Samantha’s lips part slightly, but only heard a faint whisper as the body lay limp.
Chapter 2-Three Hours Earlier
“Emergency, Emergency, Emergency.” The loudspeaker blared on. “All staff please report to the auditorium. I repeat, ALL STAFF TO THE AUDITORIUM”
“What do you think is going on,” the new girl asked Kayna.
“Excuse me?” Kayna looked at the figure who just asked the question, “Do I know you?”
“Uh… no, I’m new. I just arrived to this part late last night. My uh... My name’s Samantha. Please don’t call me Sam.”
“Ok Samantha, my name is Kayna, call me Kayna. And... Uh... I’m not quite sure what’s going on, I’m somewhat new to this part as well, I have been hearing things though…”
Samantha and Kayna sit down at the table nearest them.
“What have you heard?” Samantha asked, apparently not caring as she ripped a paper into shreds.
“Well, Three days before I arrived at this place, a boy, by the name of Kyle, was murdered. I heard that on some nights a shadow of the boy who was here attacks anyone he can find. It’s said that the staff and other patients here murdered him, and he is out to get the ‘the equally deserved revenge’. He had something about him; he was just so different from the others. I guess you could say that he marched to his own beat. Well I guess they didn’t want any individuals, everyone was to be one, and we all were made to look like a conformed group.” Kayna said after a long sigh.
“So… this place is haunted?” Samantha offered.
“Not haunted, it isn’t only this place, have you looked outside? The world is slowly dieing.” Kayna said softly.
The two girls sat in silence for what seemed to be hours. Kayna just examined the room she had been to numerous times, uncovering things she had missed in previous ventures.
Samantha sat quietly, thinking of nothing in particular. Just wondering if the world would ever return to what it had once been…
“Everyone! Gather your belongings we need to move quickly!” A staff member yelled.
“What’s wrong,” a young boy dramatically asked, putting aside a block he was using as a car.
“Just get ready. We are leaving in two minutes.”
”Kayna… do you mind if I come with you?” Samantha asked.
“Fine, but don’t hold me back.” Kayna replied shallowly.
Kayna and Samantha walked quickly to the dormitory, where their belongings were hidden among the multiple compartments, and bed spaces. Kayna grabbed her knap-sack and began filling it with her belongings. She stopped as she stared down at a photograph.
“What’s wrong?” Samantha asked.
“Um.. nothing.” Kayna replied, as a tear fell down her cheek and landed upon her picture.
“Who are those people?” Samantha asked hesitantly, looking into the photograph.
“Um... They’re… they were my family.” Kayna said slowly putting the picture among here other belongings.
Samantha and Kayna walked side by side out the large metal doors. Kayna hadn’t been outside the walls of the hospital for over 4 years. She wondered as to what the world was like. What had become of it?
“Where do you want to go,” Samantha asked Kayna.
Kayna thought of saying home, but realized that the family she knew wasn’t there any longer. “Just anywhere.” She replied, as another tear fell from her face. Samantha came near and comforted Kayna, as she cried.
Chapter 3
Kayna turned back, she couldn’t stand the sight any longer. She quickly rose to her feet, and paused one last time, just to see Samantha’s hurt filled eyes close. There was a tear in her eye…
Kayna quickly regained her composure, and started down the long hall way she had just passed threw. Kayna ran, like all hell was chasing her. She didn’t stop, just kept running. Only one thought raced threw her mind “No going back.” She ran and ran until she could run no longer. She felt a sort of fire within her lungs. Difficult, yet ever so satisfying. Even with her body letting her down, Kayna kept up a pace. She was sure to find the others. She wouldn’t die like the rest of man-kind. She was special, just, she didn’t know how special. God had certain plans for the young girl.
Continuing on, Kayna spotted a light hallway, if correct, it was the third one down on her right.
“Where is everyone!?” Kayna called out, falling to a mere walk. She new she had to keep moving, quickly, or the shadow would make her one of “them.”
“Over here.”
Kayna heard the faint reply to her destined to be soundless question.
Regaining hope, she quickly traveled in the direction of the voice she heard. She came up upon a small boy, she recognized him vaguely.
“Wh... Who are you?” asked the young boy, tears falling from his swollen eyes. He grasped tightly a small bear.
“I’m Kayna, who are you?”
“I’m Braden.” The boy replied. “I’m 9 years old.”
Kayna thinks to herself about her brother she left behind. He would have been 9 as
well… A tear falls for the brother she tried to save.
“Oh. Well, hello Braden.” Kayna replied hesitantly. “Do you know where the rest of the survivors are?”
“Um.. I think they went that way.” Braden replied with little certainty, pointing to a wall.
“In that case, I think we should go this way.” Kayna said under her breath, pointing in the opposite direction as to where she had come from.
Kayna and Braden quickly walked among the large building, trying to find any clues of the others where-abouts.
“Um… Kayna, I’m really hungry.” Braden said in a tiny pleading voice.
“Just follow me Braden,” Kayna said with a mere smile.
They approached another set of doors, that of what lead to a staircase, above the door was a sign, badly tattered, that read “Upper Left Wing”. Kayna lead the boy down the set of stairs. Upon reaching the bottom, they exited into a brightly lit room. The room was un-furnished, but it was at least lit. It had a musty odor The walls had been freshly painted, and the floor, was a sort of linoleum, just higher in class, and much more durable. In the corner, there looked to be a prison cell, who knows what the use of that was to be.
“Here,” Kayna said handing Braden a pack of crackers from her tote bag.
Braden gave her a dazzling smile, and very politely said “thank you.”
The two quickly finished up, and headed out into the hall. Kayna held Braden’s hand as the two jogged along, searching for a way out.
Suddenly, the lights began to flicker, Braden looked up to Kayna with a scared look in his eyes. He began to slow, Kayna was afraid he wasn’t able to move on.
“I… I’m scared!” Braden broke out.
Not knowing what to do, Kayna grabbed a flashlight from her tote-bag, gave it to the boy, and hoisted him upon her shoulders. As the lights came to a steady shine, he poked her in the forehead, and said, “I REALLY like you, my father told me I had a sister, you remind me of her pictures.”
Kayna stopped, not sure as to what she just heard from boy. She felt somehow, connected, to the boy, but, it couldn’t be true, her father had said they gave the boy to a safer place. (But she was also given to a safer place). Kayna couldn’t think of what to do, so she asked the boy the only thing she could, “Braden, what was your father’s name?”
“Daddy, Oh, his name was Spencer.”
Kayna’s father’s name was Spencer.
“And your mother?”
“My mommy’s name was Kristen.” He replied a bit of a frown crossing his pale face.
Kayna could not believe her ears. Her mothers name as well was Kristen.
Did that mean that Braden was her…
Kayna placed the boy back on the floor, looking into his eyes, she began to weep.
Chapter 4
Kayna and Braden looked at each, and felt the same overpowering feeling as one-another. The two were connected, and the love for each other was even stronger.
Kayna looked into Braden’s eyes, he had the same magical blue eyes as her father did. Braden went up to Kayna, and the two united in a heart-felt hug.
Kayna was the one to break the bond, realizing the great danger they were in. The two of them needed to escape, she figured that much.
“Braden, we need to get out of here, where are the others, we cannot let humanity die out!”
“Well, let’s go than.” Braden said in a hurt tone.
Kayna was the one to lead the way. They passed threw several more halls, all of what appeared to be newer. The furnishings were scarce, a TV in a corner, a cart in another. It appeared life didn’t exist on this level.
After a bit more of traveling, she decided to call out.
“ANYONE.”
Kayna and Braden listened closely.
“I think I heard something Kayna.” Braden whispered.
“You did?” Kayna asked unsure as to if she should believe him.
She called out again. “Anyone there?!”
Kayna than heard the voice. Braden looked to her, smiled, and said “Told ya so.”
“Over here, over here!” the mysterious voice called.
Kayna grabbed Braden’s hand, and lead him in the direction of the calling voice. They came upon a teenager. None of his features were recognizable, due to the fact of the darkness of the hallway. As Kayna and Braden drew closer, they saw him. He was on the ground, apparently unable to move.
“Are you all right mister?” Braden asked with a large smile across his face.
“N… Not really. I think I broke my ankle.” The unknown boy said, taking a long drag from a joint he held in his right hand.
“Who are you?” Kayna asked sighing.
“I’m Kyle, can you help me out?” he asked frustrated.
Kayna looked at Kyle hesitantly; she had never seen him before. He had long black hair, dark piercing eyes, a light complexion, peircings, what looked like a tattoo, and a bag of weed gripped tightly in one hand.
“What’s wrong?” Kayna asked suspiciously.
“My fuckin ankle.” Kyle screamed.
“Don’t talk like that! And put that shit away.”
Kyle made a face, but continued to smoke the weed.
“Braden, sit down, right there.” Kayna ordered, pointing at the ground about 5 feet from Kyle.
Kayna knelt down alongside Kyle’s outstretched leg, she proceeded to pull his pant leg up slowly, stopping only when she had a clear view of his lower leg. Unlike every guy she knew, he didn’t have any hair on his leg… very un-common. She took off his shoe, as he proceeded to smoke his joint, apparently un-caring as to what she was doing. She touched his ankle, yet he didn’t seem to feel it. She moved his foot slightly, and still received no feedback.
“You said your ankle was bothering you correct?” asked Kayna.
“I said it, I suppose your touch healed me.” Smiled Kyle
Kayna got up, and kicked Kyle hard in the shin. He laughed without even wincing for a second.
Kayna and Kyle meet in a long gaze, his eyes seemed to penetrate her soul. Upon looking away, Kayna felt overwhelmed with feelings of sadness.
“We have to go,” she announced in a loud enough tone that even HE would be able to hear, and comprehend.
“Ok, I’ll follow you guys, I really like you.” Kyle said as he returned to his feet, and put his arm around Kayna.
“Get your fuckin arm off of me jack-ass; go back to your dope.” Kayna screamed picking up Braden from the hard floor.
“Hey… Sorry.” Kyle said backing up a few steps, as he threw down his joint. “Can I come or not?”
“Do what you want, you wont listen to me even if I say no.” said Kayna.
Kayna grabbed Braden’s hand, and started to lead him down the hallway.
“Kayna, wait up, and you to Braden.” Kyle said throwing a vague smile at them
Curious as to how Kyle knew her name and Braden’s, she asked in a melancholy sort of tone, “How did you know our names.”
“I know everything I need to know.” Kyle replied grinning again, staring deep into Kayna’s eyes.
Chapter 5
Samantha slowly got up, surprisingly in no physical pain. It was dark, a bit to dark. She looked down to her tattered clothing, lifting it to expose bones, and strips of burned flesh. She moved her hand, trying to adjust to the new her; she picked off a piece of flesh from her neck, dangling it in front of herself, amusing herself. She raised the treat to her lips, sticking out what was left of her tongue, to gently taste the sweet lingering taste she so longed for.
Samantha threw back her head, to tired to left the remaining hair from her face. Though she had very poor eyesight, she was able to know what she was doing. She returned to a more light area, a room that of what was used to retain bodily waste she looked down upon herself, to thoroughly examine the body that was left of her previous self. What she saw, amazed, yet pleased her in a very sickening fashion. She saw dark eye sockets, a corroded face, features burned; she lifted her arms and saw the flesh literally falling as she moved. What a pleasant sight to such a ghastly being.
Samantha continued examining the being she now was, ever so satisfied with the damage done, wanting to see more, hoping to see more of her kind. Samantha threw back the door, leading herself back into the darkened hallway.
Samantha sensed something to be close-by, whether it be human, or one like her own, she wasn’t sure. She continued down the corridor, slowly passing rooms, all of what were empty. Samantha gazed on, thoughts going threw her mind. She stopped when a face came to mind, that of a man, rather, a boy. He was a boy much like her. Though, he hadn’t been as easy to look at. He had long cascading hair, falling just lightly beneath his shoulder. It was colored a dark color, could it be black? He had peircings, and yet his eyes could see all. Such a dark soul, and yet, so pleasing. He had introduced himself to her upon arrival as being Kyle, but preferred to go by his satanic name, Samael. This both confused Samantha, as well as pleased her. She wished he and her could unite together, and banish the others to become what Hell devised, She couldn’t wait for him to return with new souls for the taking, as he had promised.
Chapter 6
“Hey, uh guys, I think I know where we can go to get out of here.” Kyle said with a grin.
“You sure,” Kayna asked.
“Positive, follow me”
Kyle was the one to lead the two “others” down the long corridors. He got little or no response from them on what seemed to be a voyage, He was lucky that the others hadn’t realized the differences among him and them, T’was a bit of a miracle, though, he being Samael, couldn’t admit to the feelings surrounding his lifeless corpse.
Kyle quickly lead them down the longest corridor that he knew of, it was also the darkest. They rounded a corner, to be greeted among a dieing patch of light. It was that of which came from a window. Excited Kayna ran to it, surprised to actually see the light of the outside world. As she looked out, what she saw brought tears to her eyes.
The outside world was a very different place than that she remembered it being. The sky was dark, it wasn’t evening yet either, the sun was a dark reddish brown color. The air, as seen was thick, and dark, almost gray. There were barely trees or plants to speak of; just lonely strips of dieing organic matter happened to fall upon the earth anymore. In the distance she saw fires raging on. There was no hope to stop it. Only a dark world, with no hope to survive was left. The buildings that hadn’t been crushed, or fallen to pieces, looked to devastating among her memories. The buildings, were falling, little by little, to become piles of what seemed to be debris. The building’s that weren’t badly damaged, still had little hope.
Kayna slowly plummeted to the ground. Un-able to believe what had become of the life she once knew. She was curious to what happened to the rest of her family, wondering if they had sought shelter in on of the few buildings standing.
Kyle spoke out; both pleased with her reaction, and yet dis-satisfied.
“Do you enjoy what has become of your earth?” Kyle asked smiling.
Kayna looked up, brushing a tear from her reddened face.
“Your God cannot save you now.”
Chapter 7- Four years earlier
As the ship parted and came to a stop, Kayna, Braden, their mother Kristen, and their father Spencer, all un-boarded the ship. Kristen grabbed Braden’s hand, as the rest of the family followed.
Later that evening the family spent the last known night together. Gathered around a slightly worn in table, finishing the remains of their meals, Their father spoke out.
“Kayna, Braden,” he paused slightly, “you know how everything is going on in the world right now, me and your mother have decided to send the two of you to a safer place. Your mother and I hope to meet up with you in the near future, once things settle down around here.”
“But,” Kayna replied, tears beginning to form in her delicate baby-blue eyes, “You cant leave us, we need you, everything will be fine.”
Kayna and Braden looked helplessly looked at the people who birthed, and raised them. There was a certainty that they would not be seen again. The hospital would only be taking refugees for a short while longer, it would be very in-probable for them to all meet again.
Kayna and Braden were sent in among dozens of others, those of old age, those of young. They were separated for three years, and when re-united, had no recollection of each other. They proceeded threw their life’s assuming that’s the other was dead. The two moved on, with only themselves to worry about. Their family was never completely re-united. The parents, who bore the children, were out there, searching for a way to return to the people who mattered most to them.
Chapter 8- In a building not far off
Spencer slowly sat up in the cot he had been recently assigned, taking a sip of the water that had been given to him among arrival. While setting the glass down, he glanced over at the other man in the room. He had long hair, t’was that of a man. He had large dark eyes, that seemed to penetrate into his soul. The man sat quietly in the far corner of the room, not speaking, not looking, just there.
Taking a breath, he called to him, “Hey, do you know why they moved us here?”
The man looked directly at Spencer, and replied with no little doubt that he was the cause of it, and that he should just sit down, and wait for it to be complete.
Spencer was un-easy about that the man who blamed himself for the disasters that caused the “home” they knew to be invaded, destroyed.
“Spencer,” the man said
Spencer, becoming very confused as to how this man knew his name, looked up, to see the man getting to his feet, and walking closer to him.
“You miss your family, your wife and kids correct.” The man asked in a I-know it tone.
Beginning to get frightened as to how the man knew of his wife and children, he replied in a melancholy tone, “How do you know of them?”
The stranger crept closer, till Spencer felt the wisp of his breath upon his dry skin, the man’s breath had a smell, similar to that of iron.
“I know of them quite well Spencer, I know of you as well. You see,” he paused, slowly eyeing Spencer with much integrity, “I need you, as much as you need me. We are one, just… in our own way. You and I can’t be without the other. I know where your wife happens to be, as well as the children you so desire to see. If I help you, you have to help me.”
Spencer coughed, uncertain as to what to make of the man. Was this stranger telling the truth? Could he really lead him to his wife and children?
“Who are you? And how do you know of my family?” Spencer asked slowly, contemplating the words to use.
“I know anything I desire.” The man said with a devilish grin.
Getting frightened of the unknown man in his quarters, Spencer decided it best to rid the man of the room, sort out his thoughts, than re-unite with him.
“Fine, so you’re the all seeing eye of this place. Than sir, what does your name happen to be?”
“My name?” the stranger stated almost in a questioning form, “it’s Samael, I am also known to many as Kyle. Do you wish, to see the ones dear to you?”
Thinking, not realizing the grave danger he was in, Spencer looked the man over, more closely this time. He had on a dark turtle neck, and a pare of worn in jeans. The man’s eyes frightened Spencer, for he seamed to be digging within his fears, his memories.
He quickly turned away, reaching for his water.
Suddenly, the glass shattered, just inches from Spencer’s hand. A shard sliced his hand. He quickly drew his hand back, just as Samael began to speak again, he felt his head moving in the direction of Samael, even against his might. He was stuck, his body could not move.
“Do you wish to see your loved ones or not,” Samael spoke, pronouncing each word with a dramatic affect.
“Yes” Spencer said, not thinking it threw.
“Very well, and now you become one like us.” Samael silently said, staring the man deeply in the eye, Handing Spencer the needle that would kill him.
“What is this,” Spencer shallowly asked, feeling extremely depressed all of a sudden.
“Your death,” Samael replied.
Spencer looked at the vile, very pleased by what he held in his hand. He uncapped the needle, squirted a bit out, and plunged it within his lower arm. He kept his hand firmly on the needle, only releasing when he felt his body begin to morph. He tilted his arms, and saw his outstretched hands. The wound in what had been bleeding, just moments before, stopped. He saw fire, or something closely resembling it. The hair upon his arms made a hideous smell; the flesh of his arms and legs was becoming a dark crispy type leathery substance. He felt his head begin to “burn” yet, it wasn’t painful. He saw his hair hanging in his face slowly catch fire, burning away till hardly anything was left. His eyesight was slowly dieing, he felt his body literally fall to the depths of hell. His senses were becoming useless to him.
He saw Samael lift down the collar of his turtleneck, exposing a deep gash among his throat.
“Heaven and Hell collide.”
Chapter 9
Kayna sat, weeping into the blue sweater she wore. She felt the eyes of Kyle and Braden piercing into her soul. She looked up, Braden seemed to be frightened, he shared her pain.
Kyle laughed, easily he saw the pain, and the fears going threw her mind. He held out his hand, exposing it to her.
Kayna, looked frightened, yet, she proceeded to trust him.
“You miss your father Kayna… I know where he is.” Kyle smiled, careful not to expose himself to the enemy.
She looked Kyle in the face, staring into his eyes. She seemed to know what he was thinking. Thoughts, which only he would think suddenly came into her mind. She tried to block the overwhelming feed of information.
‘Was he really Samael?’
‘Was he the boy killed four years ago?’
‘Why did he want her dead?’
‘Was he the cause of this terror?’
“Follow me Kayna, take your brother as well.” Kyle suddenly interrupted.
Kayna suddenly became terrified. Was this boy, the Devil himself?
“No, I wont go!” Kayna screamed.
“You wont, what a shame. I suppose I shall have to force you than.” Kyle replied without question.
He quickly grabbed the arm a Kayna.
She screamed. As his hand touched her skin, it burned, she felt the pain.
He released her, for as he knew she would follow.
“Ready?” he asked, smiling as Kayna grabbed Braden’s hand, and stood in step behind him.
Kyle slowly followed the path he had remembered from his memories. He knew the room to bring the two. She was beginning to realize he was different, much different. Kayna and Braden followed in silence as they passed threw doors, and corridors.
Kayna began to realize the simplicity of it all. She seemed to remember the places they passed threw. Uncertain, she passed without a word.
Suddenly, they came upon two large rod-iron doors. She was positive she remembered these doors.
Kyle began to sense the fear Kayna felt. He grabbed her arm tightly, he seemed to feel her bone breaking under the extreme pressure he had applied.
“LET GO!” Kayna screamed in a blood-curdling yell.
“You want to be free? Fine, I do as you wish.” Kyle said, opening the doors just enough to throw the beast within. He grabbed for the other child, Braden, careful as to not hurt him. Yet he seemed to willingly walk in.
As Kyle followed the young boy in, he was extremely careful to lock the door after he was threw. After being satisfied the door was secure, he walked to the other side, locking that one as well.
He looked down to the miserable girl lying in a small heap in the middle of the room. He spat at her, and yet she just whimpered in pain. He came nearer, and kicked her in the side, forcing her to move.
“Up.” He commanded.
Kayna looked up, tears falling down her face; she couldn’t stand the miserable look of him any longer. Sighing, grasping her arm, she looked at him. Trying to expose who he really was.
“Very good, I see your kind learns quickly.” Again Kyle made a swift movement at her, kicking her again. Surprised to not see her flinch, he made the movement again.
Kayna kept the same steady face, just staring at him, refusing to show any pain. She was not going to lose to this monster.
Beginning to get frustrated, he decided to see just how strong she was in the face of pain, just this, would be emotional.
Slowly, Kyle walked to the apposing side of the room, watching Kayna as he moved.
Suddenly, the room was filled with a bright florescent light from overhead.
Kyle watched as Kayna and Braden slowly got accustomed to their surroundings. He saw Kayna’s gaze slowly move over to the far corner, where the cell was. Her eyes widened in a sort of disbelief, as she somewhat recognized the people within the chamber.
“You see Kayna, these people miss you very much, as well as your brother, they would like more than anything, to share some time with you, get closer dear, for they need you.”
Kayna, still adjusting to the light, slowly returned to her feet, Gripping her arm, she slowly made her way over to what seemed to be a cell.
“Daddy,” Braden quickly got to his feet as well, seeking his father in the far corner.
Braden quickly ran to the cell, stopping only when the bars held him back.
The forms seemed not to realize the presence of the young boy, they kept their gaze watching Kayna.
“Braden,” Kyle started, “How would you like to get closer to your father?”
“Please?” Braden asked.
“So you wish.”
The door quickly opened, and the young boys body was thrown in among the two beasts waiting.
Immediately, the two forms rose, seeming to feel the presence of the boy.
Braden was frightened, his father didn’t look quite right. His face was ‘messed up’ and he seemed to be angry.
Kayna watched in horror, as the two beasts rose, and began to overtake the young boy. She saw his face turn to complete fear as he felt the burning hands touch his skin. His mouth opened is a scream, but closed after a moment of pain. He looked slowly up to the two figures above him, with much effort, before his body and soul were released, he opened his mouth, tears falling, and slightly spoke, “Kayna.’
Kayna dropped to her knees, ignoring the pain surging threw her arm. She felt warm salty tears slowly begin to fall from her eyes. She closed them, trying to block the grotesque image from her head. She felt her body begin to sway, even as it lashed to the ground. Kayna opened her eyes once more, and barely saw the visible form of Braden lay cold, just before her body was cold itself.
Chapter 10
Kayna woke what seemed to be days later. She looked around. The room she now occupied was not of the one she remembered being in. She closely tried to make out her surroundings, unsure where she was. Squinting against the darkness that invaded the room, she was able to make out vague details.
The room she seemed to be in, was extremely small, or so it looked. There was what looked to be a cart to the side of what she was laying on. The room had a very peculiar odor to it. It smelled of antiseptic, that and another substance. Regaining consciousness, she began to look more in depth at what her surroundings held, trying to see among the darkness. Kayna tried to move, to find her body strapped to what seemed to be a bed of some sort.
Suddenly, the room was illuminated with a bright light from over-head.
Kayna closed her eyes against the blinding stream of light flowing into the small room.
“Your awake… very good Kayna.” Abruptly Kyle’s voice broke into her thoughts. “Open your eyes dear. I need to see your fear.”
Kayna slowly opened her eyes, squinting against the blinding light from overhead.
“Wh…” Kayna managed to say, only to be overcome with an overpowering sadness.
Kayna watched Kyle’s body float in and out of view. He seemed to be speaking, but all she was able to hear was the pounding heartbeat she held within her head. Her body, her life, seemed to be moving in slow-motion. It was as though her soul had been ripped away from her.
“Kayna,” Kyle slowly said, resting a hand upon her outstretched hand, “My dear, I am sure you are wondering just what is going on. I need you to realize, that it isn’t that it is anything against you, though, I really have no true emotions towards anyone.” Kyle stopped, sighed, and continued on, “Kayna, you and I are so much alike. We need each other, for either of us holds the path to life or death.” Kyle looked over, seeing Kayna’s mouth opened slightly, her eyes in a fog. He slowly removed the hand he had embraced within Kayna’s. He knelt down near her, getting closer, and slightly touched his lips to hers. He than walked to the other end of the small room, and shut the light out.
Chapter 11
Kyle watched as Kayna slept soundly, occasionally thrusting under the restraints that held her still. He sat in pure darkness, watching the life he was to take.
All his life, he accepted death, for he was death himself. Kayna just seemed different though. Her soul didn’t seem to posses the same evil that needed to be gotten rid of. He almost felt a sort of sadness for the life that she held so tightly. He sat waiting, waiting for her to awaken fully from the medication her body had absorbed threw him.
Slowly, yet mystically, Kayna’s body was released from the sedatives. Gradually she became more and more correspondent with the elements around her. Her body was soon able to talk, to move (just not under the restraints).
“Wh… Where am I?” Kayna called into oblivion.
“Kayna, do you remember me.” Kyle slowly stepped from she shadows, revealing the true him to the unmoving “human” that he had power over.
“Is that you Kyle?” She asked not from the sight of him (her eyesight was far to weak for that) but from the voice he possessed.
“Yes Kayna, it is me.” Kyle repeated to her.
“Where am I,” Kayna asked again, more persistent this time.
“Kayna, you’re with me, I don’t intend to let you go. We are still in the hospital, now, only you and I are here.
“But… how?”
“Darling,” Kyle started, slowly moving his hands threw Kayna’s silky brown hair. “Kayna, I need to fully rid this dreadful wasteland of all that inhabit it. There is a reason why you are here, just, I’m not sure if I have in fact made the right decision.”
“What do you mean?” Kayna asked, more out of the dazed state her body yet belonged to.
“Kayna… I am not really Kyle. I seem to have possessed this boys’ body for many dreadful long years. I seem to be know as him, but to the others, the ones who sent me to diminish this task, I go by the name Samael. If correctly taught, you will recall that I am as well Satan.” Kyle slowly took a breath, coming nearer and nearer to Kayna’s face. He felt his lips upon hers, he tasted the sweet taste that she possessed. Drawing away, he turned, and stood in silence recalling what he just did.
He looked over to her body, she didn’t seem to realize what was happening, she seemed to have slipped into another sedative trance.
Kyle stood watching, He saw as her chest released the oxygen from her counter-parts. He saw her eyes sub-consciously stop the graceful blinking that they possessed. He watched her body, watched her face, just waiting, and watching. He saw the graceful movements she seemed to possess threw her slight intriguing movements.
Kyle suddenly became in-wrapped within the thoughts of Kayna. He felt the real him starting to deteriorate, he felt a new being somewhat being born.
Kyle slowly got to his feet, moving closer to Kayna. He didn’t notice the bright light shining from above. He came closer, smelling the darling scent he longed for. He put his hand overtop of Kayna’s, just wanting to be close. He saw the many straps pulling her body lightly into the soft material of the bed. He adjusted the ones around her wrists, freeing her arms from the clutches of the material. He than let the strap around her upper torso slide free from her body.
Kyle lifted Kayna’s delicate pale hands into his own. Feeling the warm sensation slowly moving threw her hands to his.
Kyle knelt down closer to the figure that drew him in. He placed his lips upon hers. He felt the overpowering urge to lift her from her slumber. He began to draw his body upon Kayna’s. Her body didn’t seem to reject that of his own. He caressed her frail form, running his fingers threw her hair. Becoming more and more wanting, he stopped himself from boundaries. Anything was possible.
Slowly yet firmly he undressed the sleeping maiden. As finished he than began to undress himself.
He slid overtop her. Raising his prize to his lips, and slowly sliding within.
Above her, he felt his body thrusting, harder and harder. He began to feel his sweat leak from the depth of hell inside. He looked to the beauty lying there un-knowing. He removed himself, and slowly got to his feet. Dropping to his knees, he kissed her pail form once more.
Standing next to Kayna, clothed, he began to place the articles of clothing back on to her. Thoroughly satisfied with his job well done, he placed the restraints around her being again.
Finished, he looked to the small cart awaiting his use. He wheeled the cart to a comfortable location, and stared down to it. In front of him were three needles. One had at one time held 4mg of a substance called Sodium Thiopental, used to make Kayna unconsciousness, this one was empty.
Another held a .1mg of a substance named Pancuronium; it was used to stop all bodily functions.
The last and most important held 15MEQ of a substance called Potassium Chloride, this would stop the heart.
He looked down to the empty needle, than to Kayna. He picked up the one filled with Sodium Thiopental, he slowly looked down at his forearm and held the needle above it.
Chapter 12
Kyle looked down to his arm, than to the needle grasped tightly in his hand. He felt a stream of water emerging from his eye. He looked over to Kayna, the body he needed to dispose of. He looked to the needle again in his hand, feeling such an urge to place the needle within this flesh he possessed.
Kyle looked once more at the maiden he had been sent to lay to rest. He slowly stood up, glancing down momentarily at his own pitiful form. Quickly, yet gently he placed both needles with his palm, and took the few steps that separated him and Kayna.
Rolling up her sleeve gently, he made a clear view of a worthy vein for the disposal of the contents in his hand. He placed the .1mg needle above her forearm, made sure he had the Pancuronium, pushed slightly into her arm, and released the injection to for-claim her soul.
He felt a solemn tear fall as he placed the empty needle with that of what contained 15MEQ of Potassium Chloride. He slowly yet firmly placed the needle into her arm, tracing that of the first two injections. He felt his hand slightly shaking as he released this as well into her. Looking away, tears falling from him, he fell to his knees.
What seemed to be an eternity later, he arose, and grabbed a linen cloth from the storage counter. Kissing her once more, he placed the sheet over her life-less shell.
Part 2
We are the Past
We are the Future
It shall only get Worse from here
Chapter 13
He looked over the destruction destroying the land He had created. He saw that of Kyle, the one who diminished the souls. He looked down to the covered corpse of Kayna. She had been in his plan. He needed her, just now, it would happen. Life in many aspects would be restored. He saw the figures start to emerge from previous bodies. The souls were different, but the life form was still in-tact.
He looked to his followers to his sides. He saw what remained of the soul of Kayna.
Quickly, he walked over to her. She sat solemnly. He felt the feelings of her, frustration, confusion, hurt, betrayal.
“Kayna, do you know where you are?” He asked the girl.
Kayna didn’t bother to look up, with a hushed voice, she replied, “no, nor do I understand this.”
He looked upon the girl, trying to realize the hurt she felt. He placed a hand upon her soul, and in a low-down voice replied “Kayna, you are safe here. I, we are the people who shall stop this.”
Kayna looked up slightly, and saw His face. She looked around to her surroundings, only than realizing the great amount of time since she saw His face.
“What do you suppose we do?” Kayna asked looking down at her figure once more.
“We have to let this all lead out. From what I gather by the servants I sent, Kyle, Satan has certain plans. We need to await them out. Life is a sacred thing; we shall not allow this to be the end of time, the end of all.”
Kayna stood up, slightly brushing her figure off. She looked deeply into His eyes. She knew she was His purpose. She was to go where told, do what told, and be who she was told to be.
“Kayna, what I need of you, is to return to earth. Do not let the others realize you are not one of them. Let everything work out, our days are very few, but we need you.” He said.
Kayna nodded, and waited as her form was changed into another. She looked down, her color had traced to a mere whitish fade. He clothing that had at one point been ripped to shreds, fit nicely upon her form. He hair as she saw, was a long brown color.
Kayna looked again at Him, staring, wondering, knowing.
“And now I will send you Kayna, remember to be careful, we shall not let this be our final days.”
“what is it I need doing?” Kayna asked.
“You shall see when the time comes my child.”
Chapter 14
Kayna awoke to find herself in a deserted waste-land. All around her life was gone. She saw no hopes of life, yet remembered that she carried life itself. What had been trees and bushes at one time, now sat as a desolate piece of rubbish. The land that had once been so full of life now contained a bleak atmosphere. The heat of the surroundings was practically un-bearable. She looked to the sky seeing only a darkness engulfing the world. The sun now rose as a dark figure. Kayna saw fires emerging upon much of the land. The surroundings were utterly quite. No sound emerged from the barren waste-land. In the distance she saw the shells at where used to be human. The presence in them was now something of the damned.
Kayna arose to her feet feeling for her strength. Her body felt of sorrow yet thrived to move on. Kayna slowly let her eyes open to the waste-land surrounding her. Over-wrought with feelings, she desired to push forward.
Kayna felt her throat calling for water. Her system was de-hydrated. She felt at some point sickened. The stench around her was horrible. The sighting was a disgrace.
Walking upon the un-known land she seemed to be drawn into the large crowd of ‘others’ surrounding a certain area.
Approaching the beasts she became even more aware of the putrid odor emitted.
Upon a closer view they had much the same appearance as anyone else.. but, the stench!
The creatures seemed to be doing just as normal. Speaking among each other in groups. Traveling among place to place. Doing daily business.
Life seemed oddly normal, yet, it couldn’t be. The awful smell reminded her just that.
Chapter 15
Kayna walked, head low, hand around the knife tightly grasped in her hand.
Occasionally she stole a quick glance at her passer-byes, but focused on maintaining little connection with anyone.
Kayna continued, not sure where she was going, but knowing she had to be somewhere.
After periods of walking, and coming to a decently empty area, she heard a hoarse whispered voice coming from behind her
“Kayna…” the voice rasped.
Kayna turned, slowly, grasping her knife with much more force. Her head lifting, the figures body came into a view. She gasped.
The mangled remains of her brother stood before her. His face looked horrible. His skin was a dark ashy color. His hair was burned to a very bare minimum. His clothing was in a very lacking state.
He held, in his charred hand the bear from many ages ago.
Kayna’s eyes began to water.
“…Kayna, we need to speak.” Braden’s voice was a mere whisper, barely audible over the dim surrounding noises.
Kayna sat, clenching the bottom of her shirt. She listened to her brother’s heart-less words.
“You have three days. The is one other person like you alive now. I cant tell you who. Find this one person, and all life will be restored. Fail, and everything will fall to what it stands now. No hope will exist. Life is held in your hands alone.”
Kayna looked up, wiping her hair from her face, pausing, she replied
“So, I hold everything, if I fail, everything fails? What will happen to the beings now dominating the surface of this planet? What will happen to me if I fail?”
“Everything else has failed Kayna, you are the one thing not able to be diminished. Life itself is frozen. You cannot be rid of. If you fail, you shall stay and be forbidden to ever die. You will see all your life pass in front of you as it would have been, just it isn’t. You will live to everything else’s pleasure. You will be a victim of your own past, your won present. Your mind will be the last thing you can turn to. Insanity will eventually overtake you, but even than you can’t die.”
“So who am I to be looking for?”
“I can’t speak the name sister. You will know of this person at once. You two share a far greater connection than you can ever further realize. I must be going, we are not to be speaking to the mortal.”
Kayna sat, watching as the figure of her brother disappeared among the other creatures. Silently she arose to her feet.
Crossing the area she had occupied for the period of time she came to a halt. Looking down she saw a crumbled piece of paper. Even among the scattered piled in multiple areas this one seemed to catch her eye. She bent down, and careful not to rip the page, unfolded it.
Kayna,
I know who you are. I know where you are. We had quite a bit of time together before a sudden death of you.
I hope to see you soon dear. Things seem to be going quite well on your part. Life has twists. Hold that aspect dear to you. Hurry, I have a guest who is dieing to see you.
Kyle.
She closed her eyes, and folded the paper into eight neat creases. Placing it into the pocket of her jeans, she mentally re-conceived what she had just read.
He knew where she was.
He had her mentality gripped; he knew how the game was to follow.
She was just the pawn to this game of life.
Chapter 16Kayna followed her heart. She left behind he thoughts, and for what seemed worthless hours searched for he people she was so find. Never giving up hope, she continued on. Life itself confronted her in ways un-imaginable. Yet even threw the toughest of all Hell’s she was able to find the things she needed.
“I see that you found us Kayna. What a good servant of me you are.” Kyle said upon a few minutes of silence.
She now faced Him, and her mother. He held her in his grasp. They stood at a cliffs edge, binding between the two. Over the ledge was a steep fall; surely capable of killing anyone. She had found them. And now things were going to fall.
“Mother. Kyle. What do you want of me? Let her go. I shall do anything of your pleasure. Just let her go. Please. Mother I love you, everything will be ok.”
If only she knew…
“This is your mother? What a shame. I thought she was just someone to diminish as well. Kayna, you don’t seem to understand. You are living only by my rules. You seem to just get in my way. You’re a pest. I hate pests. And your mother, she served me quite well. She helped me you know? Ah but that’s another story. All you need to know, is both your jobs here are complete.” He stopped looked once at Kayna and than to the person in his grasp. “Say good-bye.”
And with that he released his grasp, the servant fell.
Kayna Followed.
The knife fell, a crimson red.
Kyle smiled.
Chapter 17
The trees began to blossom. The grass began to grow. The sun started its rays as any other day.
Kayna’s eyes opened.
Her body felt pain surging threw it.
Her soul was weak.
She looked around. She heard the laughter of children. The songs of the nature, she felt herself once more. Life was restored.
Kayna opened her eyes. She saw the sky. A crisp blue shade soared above her.
She heard a battered moan coming from her side, not far off.
She turned her body. She felt the pain. Her heart stopped just as her mother’s face rested upon hers.
Life was restored.
Death had taken its toll over life.
