Old memory

I woke up this morning

I felt different inside

It was the way my heart was hurting

I knew something died

Was it our love that was dying?

I’m not sure what it was but it made me cry

As I walked along the sidewalks

In my old neighborhood

I remembered my family and you

Standing where I stood

We argued one night which led to our disunion

I left that night in tears

Saying goodbye to your forever

And I remembered the way you looked at me

I regret that I didn’t say to you the things I wanted to say

Life in me was empty

The memory of you stood still

The echoes of your cries

Made me realize what a fool I’ve been

I wondered if I could have changed the past

Our union was a broken tie

Our love died

In our disagreements we didn’t see eye to eye

I didn’t mind the lonely nights

But when that day came

The night I left you behind

I just broke down and cried
