Chapter One - Time

My mother would always say,” Reana, time is what we don’t have.” To this day, I still ponder her words. So many innocent people died today. All thanks to an utterly repulsive monster to grotest to speak of. We call it the Wickedness. Yet and still, us humans have done no harm to the creature but it still attacks us. It is outrageously huge, and is extremely scary. We need a miracles if were gonna make it out of this one. I could understand global warming, maybe even the apocalypse, but a huge monster just coming out of nowhere and destroying the world? C’mon now, who would of thought?

Reana clutched the newspaper she was holding. The headline read in bold print, twenty six thousand killed by a roaring whirlwind caused by a monster know as the Wickedness. Her eyes wondered slowly to the pictures, showing people murdered harshly. However, what made Reana snap off, was a picture of a little girl with her body torn in half by the wind. Her bear was in complete shreds. How did the president respond top this information? How did the FBI respond to it? Reana already knew the public was frightened.

“You all have to take careful caution when walking alone, or when walking around period. Its Wickedness could be anywhere at anytime. It can use magic to change its form. That means be careful with whom you trust.”

Reana sighed heavily. She rose her hand up. She scanned her classroom to see if anybody else was as displeased with the news in the papers they all had to read. Everyone was mortified.” So what your saying Mr. Stanton is that we should live our lives in pain and somber? What is the point of living if we all are just going to die? “

Like any good teacher, Mr. Stanton wanted to answer Reana’s question in a good way. However, there was nothing good about this subject. It was all a matter of life and death here. Moreover, no one wants to face death. Especially when your fourteen years old. Mr. Stanton looked at his aid, Ms. White. She was mouthing something to him.

“Well?” Reana demanded. “This thing wasn’t around until today. Where did it come from?”

Ms.White made a stern face at Mr. Stanton. “Don’t tell her. It would put her in more danger than she is already in.

Reana through her hands into the air. “From what?”

“The eight summoners of the magic wand,” Mr. Stanton started. Ms. White’s face was in shock.

“You’ll be punished if you say anymore!”

“Do you want these kids to live the rest of there lives in trepidation? “What if one of them becomes a summoner huh?”

Reana closed her eyes and placed her head down on her desk. She blocked out her teachers argument. She could not take it anymore. Every time she asked questions all she got were more questions. She wanted answers! Reana picked up her head and jumped out of her seat.

“What exactly is going on,” She yelled.

The final bell rung for the day and everyone ran out of the classroom from fear of being killed.

“So are you gonna tell me?”

Mr. Stanton huffed at his assistant.” The eight summoners of the magic wand are the guardians of the earth. They are to protect the world from its Wickedness. The eight summoners are chosen randomly through put the galleys. That is all I can tell you.”

Reana, who was still not satisfied with her answer, jumped out of her chair and marched to Mr. Stanton. She pointed a finger at him. “What are you hiding?”

“Please Miss Alonce, go home. Mr. Stanton cannot tell you anything more.”

Reana grabbed her book bag and stuck her tongue out of her mouth. It was meant for the both of them.

”You’re lucky I just don’t spit on you! “

With that said, Reana stormed out of the door. Reana’s friend Linda was waiting for her against the lockers.” You have guts Reana. Sticking your tongue out at them like that. Did they do anything?”

“Nope,” Reana said triumphantly as if she had just one the lottery. “They had it coming and they knew it.”

Linda nodded her head.” You would not be the Wickedness would you by any chance? The old Reana would never do that.”

“Linda we are not three years old. Do you believe in magic?”

“But Mr. Stanton said…”

Reana’s steps came to a halt. She turned around and starried at her best friend. “If I’d never turn into a monster, because I’d beat it down before it can use its crazy magic on me!”

Linda smiled at Reana’s confident words. She was happy to know that her best friend was so confident. So confident in fact, that she would stair the Wickedness right in the face. Reana and Linda continued to walk until they cam into there block. There community was so nice. Plants were on every block. Of course, Reana’s mom planted them. She loved to plant things. However, lately, her flowers were withering away even though it was late spring.

Linda lived right next to Reana. They were best friends ever since they met at wall mart one day. They both were about six years old, and both shopping for ice cream. Linda over heard Reana yelling at her mom about how she wanted chocolate instead of strawberry. Linda however, decided to join in on the argument. She yelled at Reana for liking chocolate over strawberry, and Reana started to cry. Linda’s mother, who was in another isle noticed Linda was missing, and began to panic, but she heard Linda trying to calm someone down and quickly found her. That sparked there friendship.

Reana and Linda waved goodbye to each other and went there separate ways.

Reana’s mother was in the kitchen, reading the same newspaper Reana had read. Her eyes were pale, as if she had seen a ghost. She flinched when Reana came in. She opened her moth to great Reana from a hard day’s work of school, but Reana stormed up to her room before she could. Reana ran into her room, took her book bag off, and jumped onto her bed. Her long silky purple hair was caught in her eyes. Reana stared at her wall. It was blue, like her eyes. Her room was not like any other “girl’s” room. She had a Nintendo Wii, many video games, and a 50-inch TV. Many people claim her to be a tomboy, but she likes to think of herself as a girl with good tastes.

“Stupid world,” Reana muttered. “We need a miracle.”

Just after Reana made her comment, Reana’s room started to fade into darkness. Her TV, bed, everything just disappeared. Reana’s jaw dropped completely. She thought it had to be the Wickedness.

“Ok, show yourself, whatever you are! Return all of my things!” Reana said with fear in her voice.

All of a sudden, Reana found herself in front of her home. Standing in front of her however, was a huge, shark like monster only with legs. Reana opened her mouth to scream, but someone else took the honors of doing that. Her friend Linda did.

“Oh please god have mercy! Oh please let it end!” She screamed. The monster began to suck up houses with its colossal mouth. It grabbed people, and ate them one by one. Reana’s body was frozen. She was telling her body to get out of the way, but it would not. If she did not move soon, she would be next. So many thoughts filled her mind.” How had I gotten hear? What is that monstrosity? Where the heck is my mother?”

Extend your hand young one.

“What,” Reana asked. Something was speaking to her, but she did not know what it was.

Extend your hand Reana. Protect your loved ones.

Reana did what the voice told her, but nothing happened. The monster was drawing near Reana. Reana began to franticly open and close her hand, hoping that something would stop the beast. “C’mon…,” Reana said in frustration.

“Reana run!” Linda cried. The monster lifted its hand. It was prepared to end her life. A needle shot out of its hand. “This is it…” Reana thought. The monster drove its needle right at Reana, but she did not feel anything. Her best friend Linda jumped in front of her. The whole needle drove into her body. Her blood splashed on Reana. Reana began to twitch. The monster noticed it had not killed Reana, but killed Linda instead, and it ate Linda’s body.

Reana clutched her hands. Tears began to run down her cheeks like mad. “You must be the Wickedness! I swear I’ll kill you!” The monster glared at Reana. “She was my best friend and you killed her!”

In Reana’s right hand, appeared a diamond like wand. The end of it was sharp like a sword, and the top had a diamond on it. Reana paralyzes disappeared.

Now go guardian of time! Defend your honor! Protect your self!

Reana’s tears ceased and she starred at her wand. “What is this?”

You now wield the magic wand. It is capable of casting all sorts of crazy magic. Use it to your advantage.

The monster grew angry at the sight of the wand. It slammed its hand into the ground, nearly killing Reana. Reana jumped on top of it and ran up its arm.” Go back to hell!” She cried. She began to stab it wildly. Suddenly, Reana began to float into the air. She was being slammed into houses!

Use the magic!

Reana could not move her arms or legs. They felt as if they were broken. In order to survive, she had to gain back the gravity around her.

Just say gravitation.

Sure…like I knew that.” Reana gasped… Reana felt her life slipping away from her. Could she even say it? The monster began to slam Reana into the ground,” Gra-vita-tion.” Reana rested on the floor. Her eyes closed. The monster had no more control over her for now.” Sorry Linda….” Reana whispered. Reana had cuts and bruises all over her body. One big gnash was under her eye.

Reana opened her eyes one last time. She was in her bed, under the sheets. Reana got up and walked to her bathroom. She turned her faucet on.” It was just a dream…,” she said. Reana looked in the mirror and almost fainted. Under her eye, was a deep cut, shaped like a diamond.

It was not a dream.

Reana time is what we don’t have a lot of.”
