Beautiful Liar

Regret is an awful thing,
Isn't it, darling?
And you're saying to me,
“Wouldn't you know all about that?”
But I just smile at your sarcasm,
Lying oh-so-easily
(it's always been easy with you)
About my spotless conscience,
Wondering how you can believe me now.

And once you've faded back into
I.n.v.i.s.i.b.i.l.i.t.y,
I will go on to ask myself
If I've always been the beautiful liar
That I appear to be now.
The answer? It's no.
(What is it that you've done to me?)
