Red Water

He stays after school every day
Club after club
But doesn’t show up
No one sees him leave

Into the bathroom
Locks the door behind him
There is no sound in his tears
The water runs to wash it all away

Red swirls in
Changing color as it is sucked down
He rinses the scissors
After he is done

He is relieved once the pain is gone
His sides are covered
The scars are hidden from the world
But not from himself

Not a single person understands
They will never see his pain
Walk right by, avert their eyes
He remains invisible
