Ella and Starstruck scanned the guest list nervously.

“Gotcha!”

Starstruck looked at the bell and nudged Ella.

Ella tinkled her cat’s bell, excited.

“Good work Ella! We just have to make friends with Evelyn, get the scroll of power, and our mission’s done! We can go back to our planet!” Starstruck’s eyes shone fiercely.

The 18th of July...

Ella, with Starstruck on her shoulder, hurried to the cat gathering.

She saw that all the cat owners and their cats were already there, chatting. Suddenly Starstruck purred, excited.

Ella looked at Starstruck as if she was mad and pushed the tiny bell.

“There she is!” That’s Silverstreak!”

Ella scanned through the guests. Then she saw a girl that looked like the same age as her with a silvery gray cat beside her. She had dark brown hair in plaits tied with a gold ribbon, and she wore a floaty dress and ballet pumps.

Ella knew at once that she was Evelyn. She took a deep breath and walked towards her.
