Sincerely Yours Prologue
I sat there, holding him for half an hour, while he cried on my shoulder.
He kept muttering "I still love her..."
It nearly broke my heart.
For a year now, I'd loved Sebastian...a year, and he hadn't known. I wasn't about to tell him.
His girlfriend, just that day, had broken up with him.
I can't say I was happy, I hated seeing him like this. We sat silently in a park, on a bench a few blocks away from my house.
A cold wind blew past us, ruffling his hair...I loved his hair. It was just past his shoulders. It blew back, revealing his beautiful face. His eyes were closed, silent tears streaming down his face. I tightened my hold on him, one arm across his chest, one around his back, my hands holding each other around him. He lifted his arms and held onto the arm I had on his chest, burying his head in the black fabric.
He took a deep breath, and I released him slightly. He held onto my arm tighter.
"Don't let me go..." he whispered. I slid along the bench, closer to him, and rested my head on his shoulder. He lifted his head from my arm and rested it on my head.
"Why didn't I listen to you?" he asked in a whisper. I sighed.
"Because you're an idiot."
He laughed softly. I smiled.
"I love you."
"I
love you too."
...we were only friends. I knew that. It hurt...
I sighed again, and pulled
my legs up, tangling them in his. He smiled. We always did this,
whenever one of us was upset. Though...whenever he asked me what was
wrong I had to lie...
How can you answer the question "What's
wrong?" when nothing's right?
"I know there's something wrong. You're never crying unless there's something really wrong."
"It's nothing..." a sob shook my body.
"It's not nothing. I don't want to fight with you about this, please tell me what's wrong."
"No..." I
wshipered. Seb sighed, stood up and walked to the door.
"Sometimes
I don't know who you are." he opened the door and walked out,
glancing at me as it closed. I heard his footsteps down the hallway,
slowly fading. I ran to the door, pulled it open and ran down the
hallway. Just as I was about the run down the stairs, Seb caught me
about the waist. I yelped in surprise and he spun me around and
hugged me tightly.
"You didn't think I'd really leave, did you?" I wrapped my arms around his waist and hugged him.
"Damn you..."
"Why?"
"You're so...perfect."
"No I'm not." I smiled.
"You are!"
"Honestly, I'm not perfect. No one is perfect. Least of all me." I felt the tears stinging my eyes. I refused to let them fall, like I had done so many times before.
"You're perfect to me..." I looked up, straight into the crystal blue eyes of Sebastian.
"I hate you..." I laid my head on his shoulder, and he laid his head on mine.
"You love me."
