Written for a class assignment that I didn't want to do and kept stressing over until I got this perfect idea that has made me a hero among my friends who also wrote an English sonnet for the assignment... I thank Holly Welch and Jessica Waller for their "support"

Trouble Writing Sonnets

Writing a poem sucks a very lot,

especially when it comes to sonnets.

Rhyming is like taking the bullet shot

from the gun held by murderous bonnet

wearing Renaissance portrayers who praise

writers of Shakespeare not forgotten yet.

For us, though, poetry puts us in hazes

of confusion we can't get out of, bets

on knowing Shakespeare, just the poems by

themselves, useless, not winnable for us.

Sonnets are hard to write, to fly the skies

of poetry freedom, of free verse, just

a dream without the hated rhyming words,

unlike sonnets about kind love or birds.
