A Single Red Rose

A single red rose

A painful reminder that you’re gone

The red rose makes my soul

So strongly for you long

A single red rose

You carried at your death

Held it in your hands

As the blackness stole away your breath

A single red rose

Bright crimson, so alike

To the color that stained my skin

When the silver blade came to strike

A single red rose

The symbol of our end

Of the black Death that claimed us

And our souls to the depths it sent

A single red rose

So beautiful and bright

Yet the farthest thing it is

From comfort and the light
