Running, more running, and a lot of corridors all of which didn't lead the tall blonde to the exit. She blindly hit the wall, but it wasn't there any longer, it was just nothing, swallowing her up. She tries to scream but the sound never leaves her five foot teen body, or if it did, the nothingness swallowed up her voice like it had swallowed her.
Before long the golden eyed girl was in an empty parking lot, it was dark outside and there was snow on the ground. Where was she? That was her question to herself as she took rapid breathes. Her hot breath hitting the cold air formed visible puffs of air around her. Turning her to search for a way out of this nightmare, that much she knew. She also knew exactly what was going to happen next.
"Ah, my lovely, lovely Brittany, I thought I'd never find you." The voice was a familiar bass. That voice still sent shivers up her spine and caused old wounds prick. Brittany closed her eyes, willing the voice away, though, she knew that wouldn't happen. Not in this dream.
"Brittany, baby. commere." She opened her eyes, the scene changed again, this time they were in his house. She blinked back the tears that were forming.
"Go away, Jason." She said calmly as ever.
"Why should I? We're in my house, and you are my bitch." He said in that cool bass that had once sent shivers of pleasure coursing throughout her thin body.
"Now, Brittany, do we have to this the hard way, or the hard way?" The bleached blond make asked as she walked up to her, he grabbed her arm and pulled her into his body.
She could feel his eagerness to do it the 'hard way'. His lips hotly claimed hers. She felt the hot and salty tears, that she had blinked away before, slide down her cheeks, running towards her unmoving lips. That was, until Jason unbuttoned her jeans in order to get his hand down her tight pants, and he grabbed her roughly. This made her gasp, which gave him the opportunity to stick his tongue into her mouth, nearly choking her.
"Brittany..." she heard her name, it sounded like Jason, but that was impossible since he was busy with her mouth.
"Brittany..." again her name was called. It was a male's voice, Matt? No, that's impossible too because he moved away with his dad after his parents' divorce.
"Brittany!" She was shaken to wake her up. She face her face was wet with the tears that she shed in her sleep. Looking at the male with golden blond hair and amber eyes and the girl that looked exactly like herself with ice blue eyes she wailed, "Dom, Cass." She collapsed into her sister's (who was her triplet with Dominic) arms.
"Shush, it's okay." Cassandra murmured as she smoothed her sister's slightly frizzy blonde hair.
"He touched me..." Brittany whimpered into Cassandra's shoulder.
"Dominic, go get her a glass of water, please." Though Cassandra was the middle child, when it came to Brittany, she was like a mother.
"Okay," his voice was a soft tenor. His amber eyes flickered over his sisters. "If he hadn't died in that crash, I'd had killed him," he said before departing to go downstairs to fetch a glass of water, leaving Brittany to cry on, and lose more sleep, none of which he was doing willingly.
Brittany whimpered when he left. It had been almost three months since Jason died in a car crash, this time it wasn't his dump fault.
"You're safe now, hush BB." Cassandra said softly, running her hand through the younger sibling's hair. She knew her sister wouldn't get back to sleep at least it was summer vacation, so, Brittany wasn't needed to concentrate on anything except to make sure she didn't break down whenever she saw a blond male driving a red Mustang GT convertible.
"I'm
sorry, Cass." Brittany sniffled, looking at the older girl, her
eyes were now closer to an amber color, though, there were still
hints that she had gold tinted eyes. "I didn't mean to wake you
guys again."
"Nonsense! I am not letting my sister
suffer at..." Cassandra paused to check the time on the black,
plastic, digital clock on Brittany's black nightstand. "At
three-forty in the morning!" Cassandra rested a cool, pale hand
on her sister’s blue satin pajama clothed leg. "We'll stay up
for you even if it means we have to start taking shifts outside your
room." That was Cassandra, offering her services, as well as
their brother’s, not that she'd mind, but she'd make him do it if
her protested any.
Brittany tried to smile at her sister, she did appreciate it, but with everything moving in all the wrong directions, each pulling her this way and that way and the way that no one ever thought of naming.
"Here ya go..." Dominic came back, as always with a clear glass of water, and two sleeping pills in hand. And as always Brittany just glared at the medication that was being offered. "Please take 'em?"
"No." The reply was that of defiance much like a child’s. "I will not take those." Her mood affected what color her eyes were, now the gold color was like that of cooled gold.
Dominic just nodded and put the pills aside on the nightstand along with the glass of clear liquid. He joined his sisters on the bed, sighing softly. He had wrapped an arm around Brittany, pulling her slowly for a gentle, brotherly hug.
"You two can go to bed. I'll just get on my computer and mess around on that. I'm fine, now." Brittany moved herself away as she took her turn to act a little more mature than her eighteen-year-old self.
"Are you positive, BB?" The other female sibling asked, her voice an alto soprano borderline.
"Yeah," as if to prove to them that she was all right, she got off her bed which had seen better days, and walked to her desk in the corner furthest from the window. She pressed the power button trying to act nonchalant, though it was apparent that wasn't even close to what she was feeling.
"Okay, well, remember Jenna's coming over later, she is forcing you to go out with her and everyone else." The three knew that Jenna would bring the whole gang if she wanted and since Matt's moving, and the remarriage of her mother, the two new additions to the family, Jenna brought the group everywhere, now adding her new sister, who was Dominic's quasi-girlfriend. It was all overwhelming, what with boyfriends and all that. At last count there were eight people. herself, Dominic, Alice (Jenna's half-sister), Cassandra, Shawn, Shane, Jenna, and the far away Matthew, so, really there were only seven in the group of friends, and siblings, and step-siblings.
"Go away, Dom," Brittany said softly, Cassandra had already left, despite wanting to take care of her sister, she wanted to sleep more.
"You're sure you are fine?" He asked, leaning against her desk. Brittany just nodded. "Positive? I'll stay if you want."
"No, I've got stuff I want to get done." She answered, double-clicking the internet icon. She looked at her brother and smiled lightly, "go to be. Jenna's probably still on. She is always talking to her brother. But, if I need anything I'll let you two know, I promise." She wished he would believed her, actually, she wished she believed herself.
Dominic bent down and kissed her on the head. "Fine, but, I know you are lying to me. But, you know I've got a few things to do in the morning." He said softly, giving her one last hug before he left the room.
Brittany signed into her instant messenger, and she had been right, Jenna was still on.
Poette: Hey, what's up?
LilJJ: Nothing, talking to Jake. Guessin' you're up 'cause of ''the dream''.
Poette: Yeah... same ol', same ol'...
LilJJ: Oh.
LilJJ: How is your mom? Is she getting better any?
Poette: She isn't getting worse, good enough?
LilJJ: Not really, but, yeah.
LilJJ is away.
LilJJ is offline.
LilJJ signed in.
LilJJ: Sorry, Alice came in and tripped on my phone cord. Damn, Jake signed off.
Poette: Sorry.
LilJJ: Don't be. Hey, I think I should get off, get some sleep. Two hours seems good. I'll be over at 9. Be ready, or I'll dress you myself.
Poette: Laughs Shut up JJ!
LilJJ: Whatev BB! And you know, you should give Jake a message sometime. I'm sure he'd like it.
Poette: Maybe, I just don't think he likes me.
LilJJ: His name is BigJJ. Isn't that cute? :-P
Poette: Yeah... you must have made it for him.
LilJJ: What makes you think that? Shifty eyes Well, I'm practically dreaming on my keyboard, see you in three hours! HUGS AND KISSES!
Poette: HUGHUG KISSKISS.
LilJJ is offline.
Brittany sighed as she added Matthew's messenger name to the list though she doubted she'd ever say anything to him.
BigJJ is online.
BigJJ: Who is this?
Poette: I'm Jenna's friend.
BigJJ: Oh, are you BB? The one that she is always talking about?
Poette: What is she saying about me?! Whatever it is, it isn't true!
BigJJ: You mean, your mom really doesn't have cancer? Sighs I'll have to talk to my sister if she says lies like that...
Poette: Oh... yeah, my mom is sick. Sorry, I'm a little tired, so I might be out of it, heh heh --;
BigJJ: Where IS Jenna?
Poette: In bed by now. AC tripped the line. Where did YOU go? JJ wasn't pleased to see you gone.
BigJJ: Dad was watching me until I got off, so I had to wait a bit until I could got back on.
Poette: LOL! Great job!
BigJJ: Have I ever met you before BB?
Poette: NO!
Poette is offline.
Brittany turned off her computer, she lied to Matthew because she was worried what he would think if he knew that he did know her, and that she was the girl that dated the jerkwad. She sighed, running her hands through her hair. Just her luck... another sigh escaped her lips as she got up from her computer chair and went to her closet, grabbing some clothes so that she could change into her day clothes after her shower.
Brittany was sipping a cup of coffee, sitting at the table, she had watched the sunrise on her front porch with her dad as he had just got back home from the hospital. She looked at her sister who was wearing the same outfit with opposite colors, her skirt was black, while Cassandra’s was white. Brittany’s halter top was white and Cassandra’s was black. Black flip-flops for Brittany, and white for Cassandra.
"How are you doing now?" She asked slipping into the seat next to her at the green marble top counter.
"I'm fine. It's just a dream Cass." She said softly, looking inside her plain white ceramic mug.
"How do you drink that stuff? It's disgusting!"
Brittany laughed, looking at her sister. "Go somewhere else if you don't like it, I'm not getting rid of it because you are here. I've drank this stuff the same way for years and that is what I like. We are part of a set of triplets, but, we aren't all the same. Gees, I thought you paid attention to biology last year."
"I did." She huffed, she crossed her arms over her black clad chest. "Just drink you coffee, which is bad for you..."
Brittany raised her left hand all fingers down except her middle finger. "Now girls, don't make your big brother cry because his darling little sisters are fighting at eight-thirty in the morning." He said softly rubbing his temples as he leaned against the counter.
"You aren't our big brother, you are our triplet brother. Big difference Dominic." Cassandra looked at him, her icy blue eyes playful, but she kept her face stern looking.
Brittany's response was yet another flying of ''the bird''. "Whatever. Go back to bed and think about doing things with Alice. And we don't want to hear you moaning in your sleep." Brittany shivered. The walls in their house were thin.
"Be quiet! You aren't suppose to say things like, much less know them." Dominic sounded embarrassed, and this caused Brittany to look to see how red face he was. Which was quite, really. Which caused Brittany to look at her sister, who was biting her lip not to laugh.
"Alice... hmmm... yes... yes... YES!" Brittany mocked deepening her voice trying to sound like her brother as she mocked him. She heard Cassandra laugh, which made her smile broadly. "Oh and there is there was always that saying 'Be afraid of things that go 'bump' at night'. I think it was because someone was stuck with their room next to their brother's where there were a lot of 'bumps' at night." She laughed.
"Stop that!" Dominic really did sound embarrassed even more so. When the door bell rang Dominic darted off to answer it. Brittany strained to hear what was being said. "Shesh, I can't make fun of him because he has a thing with Alice." Brittany said softly, looking at her sister who was red faced because of the laughter. And of course she was full of ammo on Cassandra, there were no 'bumps' but she could practically hear her drool at the thought of laying down with Shawn.
"Don't look at me. But, I guess it is better than hearing them both at it. I mean, she's my best friend, I don't want to hear her having sex with my brother. That's like, not a right image to think about." She laughed as she got off the stool and walked into the entry way with her sister trailing behind her. They smiled as the last four people were in the house. Jenna was crushed against the wall, she was looking up at her boyfriend Shane, who had gotten out of his shell with the group whenever they weren't in public.
"Jenna! No having sex in my entry way. If you two want to do that go do it in Dom's room."
"Hey!" The three of the offended party said in unison.
"Wrong! Bad image!" Cassandra shouted before she was almost molested by her love. "Shawn! Ack!" She squealed before he quieted her with his lips.
"Geez, what a kissing fest!" Brittany glared at her best friend.
Jenna stuck her tongue out at her friend. "I made a joke about Shane and he thought it would be cute for him to push me against your wall." She laughed before pushing past her boyfriend to give her friend a hug. 'I've got a surprise for you..." Jenna drawed, she glanced at the door for a moment.
"What are you talking about?"
"Jenna, just tell her." Alice said leaning against the guy that had the biggest crush on her, though, by the looks of it, she didn't know, or she didn't want to show that she knew.
"Fine. Alright, but you have to come with me." Brittany's mind automatically went the wrong way, after all she had been thinking about sex for at least five minutes. She was being dragged by Jenna before she thought of saying no.
"Where are you taking me?" She was answered as Jenna opened the door and pulled her out until just about the driveway. "Okay, my driveway, woo-hoo."
"Shut up and close your eyes." Jenna sounded strangly happy and all that weird stuff. She was waiting until her friend closed her eyes so Brittany did just that. "Okay, now when I tell you to open them, you open them." Jenna sounded as if she was talking to a kid younger than herself. Even though she was actually two years younger than Brittany.
Brittany heard Jenna walk away and open up a car door. She also heard her say 'come on' twice, once very sweetly, the other a little more irritable. She kept her eyes closed and tuned out the rest of the world for a moment.
"Open them!" Jenna shouted happily. What Brittany got was a wet and slimy lick in the face.
"Augh! What the hell?" She pushed the puppy's head away from her face, she was smiling down at it. She was clueless to what else was there. "What a cutie. Does he have a name?"
"Yeah, it's Matthew." A male's voice replied to the answer.
Brittany looked up and blushed. There was the male she had the biggest crush on. Medium length light brown hair, shaggy hair. Icy green eyes just like his twin sister. "Oh." She blinked and looked at Jenna who was practically beaming.
"When did you -- how are -- why are you here?" She asked, holding the squirming puppy in her arms.
"Because I missed this really pretty girl that has been haunting my dreams since I've laid eyes on her."
"Aw! Jake, you shouldn't have!"
"Go away!" Brittany and Matt shout in unison. They look at each other and laugh.
"Fine. I see how it is." She smiled at them. "Oh, and he was here last night." She laughed before running away from Brittany's glare of death. "You'll forgive me, I swear it!" And she was gone and inside the house.
Brittany looked down at the puppy. It was a husky puppy and the eyes reminded her of her sister's.
"You know, I was talking about you, right?" Matthew's voice was soft, and the way he touched her face, it was so tentive. It was nice to look in his eyes, Brittany thought.
"I think I gathered that when you started that. Most guys just don't say those things to random girls." Brittany said softly.
He smiled at her, the hand that lifted her chin to look at her was on her cheek. "I've got this huge crush on you. And you don't know how many restless nights I've had thinking about you, knowing that that jackass had you, and I couldn't. And when he died, I am sorry to admit this, but I seriously threw a mini party, but, then my dad asked me to move away with him." His words were gentle and just for her.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because, I didn't know what to do. And I wasn't about to take the advice of my sister, who has only had one boyfriend, and yeah, it is kind of sad. Seriously, I should have told you sooner." He looked at her. She wasn't sure whose eyes were better to look at, the puppy's or his.
"Kiss me." Brittany said softly, since she was looking down at the dog, it looked like she was speaking to the animal rather than the boy that she liked.
"Hmm?"
"Kiss me, Matt." And he complied with her.
