Imaginings

-

In a place where your dreams will come true,

lies a realm beyond, which can terribly askew,

but the woman in white with dazzling honey hair

will guide you safely through the wretched despair.

And if you follow her enchanting trail,

she will show you places with such vibrant detail.

Places of glory, of beauty, and of mirth,

but look away when there is immoral dearth

for if your astonished gaze strays too long

you might be thrown into the disastrous throng.

A golden river running through the glowing, amber trees

flows alongside the lady’s path with ease,

so if you should lose your comfortable way

you needn’t worry for you will not be led astray.

Walking behind the gently flowing pale cloth,

you see a butterfly transform into a moth,

but your guide whispers velvety words of hope

and so you avert your eyes in a way to cope.

However, when ripples break the surface of the river,

you dare to glimpse that which might give you a shiver.

Noticing the daring change in your emotional machine,

the woman reveals that which was purposefully unseen.

All along your destination stood nearby, but could not alluringly entice

for you had to see the change in yourself to see your idyllic paradise.
