When You Are a Mother

Today has been set aside to show appreciation

To those that make life run smooth

There will be gifts given everywhere

In a few days gift givers will forget

All about the appreciation they claimed

I decided I would avoid doing that

Then I realized even obtaining a gift

Was delayed until I had the time

So I set out to put down my appreciation in words

I want you to have something to look at

To help you remember when I forget

I notice you work hard

When others think you stay at home

I tune out your requests

When you’re done filling mine

I listen to your problems

When I’m too busy to help

I feel the benefits of your help

When I’m too angry to admit it

When I’m out trying to live my own life

You are busy being a Mother
