Helter Skelter

It surrounded me

It was all around me

But somehow it never touched me

I sat always like a separate entity,

Everyone around me was drowning in the chaos

They lived, they loved, they laughed,

But it was never me

Like a ghost among the lively, I didn’t belong

Unable to join in, even when invited...

But one day a smile from a stranger woke me up

Suddenly I couldn’t breath

Everything was helter skelter

The chaos was everywhere,

All around me, inside me,

I couldn’t get away

And I never wanted to

I’m alive at last, and the world is beautiful

It’s a brand new day, a fresh start

There’s a warm hand in mine and laughter in my lungs

I can’t breath

I can’t escape

I’ll never survive this!

And I wouldn’t have it any other way
