Chapter 1- Chance Meeting
Hades’ pov:
Hades was royally pissed off as he sat in his private boat as Charon ferried him across the River Styx, this river served as the main entry into the Underworld but, to Hades it was a waste of human souls that were in need of a cruel punishment. His older brother Zeus the lord of the gods was throwing a party and no doubt would wasted off his ass by the party’s end, Zeus sounded more like the lord of the assholes to Hades. He hated being around the other gods because their vanity always shone through when they talked about the extravagant homes and items that they all own, last time Hades went to Olympus Apollo wouldn’t shut up about his skill and expertise with a new bow made entirely of an enchanted mahogany wood with a string made from his ewes very fleece.
Besides that the other gods just plain didn’t like Hades for their own reason which was fine by him.
“Zeus will just invite me up there and try to make a mockery of me well this time I won’t stand for it. What’s the point of gathering all those vain bastards in one place, they’ll just get jealous of each other and try to one up the other, it makes me sick to my stomach.” Hades growled to himself as he ascended the stairway to Olympus.
At the Olympus Summit:
The party was in full swing as Dionysus went around the entire room nude, showering everyone in wine and ambrosia much to Aphrodite’s disgust.
“Come on Aphrodite it’s a party loosen up and have a drink.” Dion said through a drunken stupor before she pushed him away from her.
Zeus of course, was drunk off his ass as he watched Hermes try to steal a kiss from Aphrodite only to receive a slap that sent him reeling across the room.
“Ha I bet that hurt huh Hermes? Hades you finally made it, now Demeter can have her performance.” Zeus bellowed as he slapped Hades on the back hard enough to send pain through his armor.
“Yeah well I live to see my brothers smiling face from time to time.” Hades said sarcastically even though he knew Zeus was too drunk to give a flying fuck. As he sat down and removed his helmet.
Persephone’s pov:
Persephone was bored as she watched the hi-jinx’s of the gods and goddesses that surrounded her. Her mother of course was swapping stories with her aunt Hera who was looking at her husband, Zeus make a complete fool of himself. The rest were chattering in true godlike fashion; talking about the overstated abodes that housed their very big egos. Persephone was about to up and leave when something caught her eye, a man all clad in black armor that shone with an intensity of one who wasn’t to be crossed and not retaliate in the most excruciating manner cross the room to sit on a throne that seemed to enhance the very air around him. Naturally her mother kept all suitors away for fear of Persephone leaving and not coming back, but to moment the man removed the helmet to reveal a face that was as handsome as it was fearsome; Persephone felt as if Eros had struck her with one of his trademark arrows. She knew this wasn’t true for Zeus had forbade Eros from having arrows on Olympus after the accident with Athena and Ares and the mess that followed. As Poseidon, lord of the sea was passing by Persephone stooped him.
“Lord Poseidon forgive me interrupting you but who is that?” Persephone asked indicating the man on the throne with a permanent scowl on his face.
:”Why that’s my brother Hades, he rules over the Underworld with an iron fist.” Poseidon answered with a chuckle as he walked off.
“Hades” was the only word off Persephone’s lips as she stared towards the thrones.
Normal pov:
Persephone walked toward Hades like a woman possessed but before she could get any closer, her mother drew her to the center of the room.
“May I have everyone’s attention please? My daughter Persephone will now perform the Fiklata for our lords of the universe along with the nymphs of Cacytion.” Demeter said in a proud voice.
Persephone may have been dancing for all but, her focus was on the man in front of her Hades: lord of the Underworld.
Hades’ pov:
Hades was aware of Zeus and Poseidon taking their seat but he didn’t care, he just hoped the dance wasn’t too long. He watched as a woman of no more than twenty took her place in front of the nine other nymphs, with hair as blonde as wheat and skin as white as porcelain she looked like a true goddess. Definitely one he wouldn’t associate with, Hades watched as the women performed the Fiklata with such grace and beauty, his attention however was on the maiden known as Persephone.
Normal pov:
The dance started out slow with the nymphs and Persephone gliding every which way, then speeding up to twirls and leaps that highlighted their lithe bodies and figures. The dance reached a tempo that left the audience breathless and in awe at the elegance and splendor of each step, pivot, turn, glide and jump that made up the dance.
Persephone’s pov:
Persephone’s body was but a machine for the crowd’s enjoyment but her mind and heart were centered on the lord of the underworld. She hoped he truly found her dance entertaining, for she was dancing solely him, only for him.
Normal pov:
The music and dance halted at the exact same time as applause filled the room, as Demeter looked extremely proud of her daughter she proceeded to gloat to the other deities. Persephone heard the thunderous applause but she looked only for Hades’ reaction to her performance, as she gazed at the triple of thrones.
Hades’ pov:
Hades was in fascination with the one who called herself Demeter’s daughter. Although he enjoyed the performance he would allow anyone else to know. Hades sat rigid with dignity as Persephone approached the set of thrones. Zeus once again assaulted Hades’ back with slaps as he laughed
“Fine performance, Eh Hades?” Zeus laughed as he left his throne to resume partying, to which he left Hades a boiling cauldron of anger.
Persephone’s pov:
Persephone was nervous as ice on the inside, as she approached the throne that seated her knight in shining armor.
“Lord Poseidon and Lord Hades, did you enjoy the show?” She asked even as her eyes wandered over the lord of the Underworld.
Normal pov:
Persephone looked upon Hades as a marvel she never seen before as she bowed low letting her flowing locks touch the sparkling floor.
“You dance with the grace of a natural born nymph.” Persephone heard Hades say with calm authority that seemed to turn her insides into mush.
“Would you mind a small dance with me Lord Hades?” Hades heard glide over his skin like water, as he looked upon Persephone’s face which was small and fragile with large expressive eyes so blue not even Poseidon could do them justice.
Hades’ face was impassive and stone as he gaze at Demeter’s pride and joy.
“Hades, honor the girl with just one dance. Why don’t you” Poseidon chuckled as he nudged Hades in the arm to get his attention.
Hades’ eyes literally snapped blue fire when his gaze turned to his younger brother’s face and then softened a slight degree when it returned to Persephone.
Persephone’s pov:
Persephone nearly jumped for joy when Hades abandoned his throne to stand before her. She could almost feel the sexual heat that seemed to generate from the man who commanded loyalty. Persephone let a smile slid over her features as she addressed the lord of the Underworld.
“Don’t worry my lord I don’t bite.” She joked as she took his hand and led him to the dance floor.
Hades’ pov:
Hades couldn’t help but be impressed at this young girl who would dare flash a smile in his direction as if seeking a companionship. As they glided across the dance floor Hades couldn’t help himself but talk to her.
Normal pov:
“You seem quiet, is something wrong my lord?” Persephone asked as she let the heat that seemed to seep through the armor bathe her in its warmth.
“Aren’t you in the least intimidated by me?” Hades inquired as they waltzed un- interested by anything else.
“Should I be afraid of my lord rather than respectful of your presence?” Persephone replied against the sudden lump in her throat.
“You are correct child, your mother has taught you well.” Hades said to the young Persephone as they continued dancing.
Demeter was chattering with Artemis and Aphrodite when she happened to see Hades dancing with her precious Persephone, and she wasn’t happy.
“Demeter, isn’t that Persephone with Hades?” Aphrodite indicated to the fertility goddess, who was getting very angry.
Demeter gathered her anger and fury as she crossed the room toward her sweet Persephone and the monster that dared to hold her hand. Hades seemed to sense this as he pulled away from Persephone slowly and to savor the moment with her.
“it would seem I must take my leave, little one before your mother’s fury ruins the party.” Hades whispered in Persephone’s ear.
Persephone’s pov:
Persephone was upset with her mother for ruining a wonderful moment with Hades.
“Persephone did that monster hurt you?” Demeter asked frantically while checking Persephone over.
“I’m fine mom; he was actually very gentle with me.” Persephone said in a huff as her mother dragged her by the wrist.
Persephone stole one last glance at the man who was leaving with her very heart and soul.
