Sensation and curiosity
A splinter has embedded itself
and no matter how I pull on it,
it remains deeply entrenched.
It is impossible to ignore its presence,
the pain a constant reminder
each and every time I glance at it.
Yet, even if I turn my head away,
my curiosity is too much to resist
and I find my gaze shifting once more.
And to remove it completely
would cause me to lose all sense,
for it pierces my heart entirely.
