Dance

Where is your kind and gentle touch?

Did it flee with your accepting smile?

When did this terror emerge

Cunningly concealing its bile?

Has it been here long

Mixed with the mud and mire?

Did it not shy away but

Draw strength from our love's fire?

No...

It sensed the flickering flame;

Dances disguised your quiet retreat.

You are nothing but a coward,

Abandoning with deceit.

Run away, scamper and hide,

I curl my lip at you in disdain.

When they bring news of your death

We shall gulp down your champagne.

Our steps shall tremble the Earth

So intense our jubilation.

I am aware now;

Never again to fall in infatuation.
