A/N: I wrote this when I was eleven, but it's so cute! xD I just had to post it.
An addition, I also replaced all "my"'s with "me"'s because, well, leprechauns are Irish. I just thought it'd be a cute addition, but ignore it if it gets annoying.
A Leprechaun's Lost Luck
"Really, not everyone can have the same wonderful life as you," Roger said to me.
"Really, you're not a leprechaun," I said.
"Emmy, stop being so self-conceited," said Roger. "I've known you since I was four, so it's starting to get really annoying."
"One would've thought," I said sarcastically.
Roger was a dryad while I was a leprechaun, and everyone knew that they didn't go well. But our parents just had to be friends, so now every day we have to suffer two hours of each other. It wasn't exactly cloud nine being with him, and having bright red hair, either, because everyone knows that red is an unnatural color.
Me best friend, Crystal, a sprite with purple wings, flew past Roger's cottage. I leaned out and floated a clover to her, a trick I had learned from me dad, and when you open it, your message pops out.
Crystal opened the clover and saw me. I made a sad face, and Crystal flew to me.
"He's just jealous because I'm a leprechaun," I said.
"Why am I jealous of you?" said Roger. "I'm just jealous because leprechauns always have luck! It's not fair!"
"Too bad, wood-face," I said. "And besides, we're not the ones who have the luck! It's our clovers!" And I pulled out me prized possession, me four leaf clover, out of the inside of me vest.
"Well, let's just see how you do without your luck!" said Roger, and took me clover and threw it out the window into an earth wyvern hole. And it went down...
Down...
Down.
"Roger, you idiot!" I said.
"What?" asked Roger. "Now that you don't have your luck, you know how normal creatures live, Emmy!"
"Ah geez," I said, putting me head in me hands. "Roger, you idiot! Don't you know that without his or her luck, a leprechaun--" I was cut off by lightning.
"Is it raining?" asked Crystal, flying in from outside.
"No," said Roger. "There's a storm-"
"-above me head," I finished. "See, Roger? This is what happens when a leprechaun loses their luck."
"Oh," said Roger. "I think we should go get your luck."
"I never thought that we should," I said sarcastically. "Let's go, butthead! Our parents are still in the kitchen." I shoved him rather harshly out the window.
"Ow," said Roger, landing in a bush. "Thanks for that."
"You deserve it," Crystal said.
"Fine, I do," said Roger. "Let's just get this over with."
First Roger slid in, not minding the rocky wall. Crystal flew in, avoiding the rocks, and I was behind, sliding down as me storm ran into the ceiling.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow," I said, me butt hurting terribly. "Ah, darn it!" Unfortunately, me bad luck had me all me gold fall out of me pocket, because leprechauns always carry gold. The gold sank into the dirt, and I was already too fast to stop and get them.
When we got to the bottom, we could barely see anything.
"Aw, come on!" I said frustratedly. "We'll never find me clover this way!"
"Can't you make a rainbow?" asked Roger.
"You doofus head, when you threw away me luck, you threw away me powers too!"
"Oh," said Roger. "Well, can you at least try?"
"Sure, but I'm telling ya, it's not gonna work," I said, and then I waved me hands. Nothing happened.
All of a sudden, we heard a loud roar, and bright fire flashed throughout the cave for a second.
"Aah!" Crystal and I screamed. I saw a wyvern shape, and also two tunnels.
"Where do we go?" yelled Roger as we heard nearby footsteps.
"Anywhere but here!" I said. "The wind must've carried me clover, so it probably flew that way!" I pointed in a direction where I saw a tunnel facing the slide. "Let's go!"
"Where?" asked Crystal. I had momentarily forgotten they couldn't see me. "Just follow me voice!"
I led them down a dark corridor, and we came upon a dimly lighted ground brownie cave. I looked around and saw a green-haired brownie hammering on something.
"Hi. Can you help me?" I asked kindly. All of a sudden, me lightening struck the brownie, who turned and screamed.
"Unlucky leprechaun!" He hid behind his desk.
"Aw, I fine," I said.
"Hey, Emmy, you seem shorter," stated Roger.
"Okay, never mind, I'm not fine," I said. "It's okay, really. Hey, um, did you see a clover fly past?" I added to the brownie. He shook his head.
"Aw, come on," said Crystal.
"Do you ever wonder how we're gonna get back up?" asked Roger.
"If we ever get the chance," I said.
"Can we borrow a candle?" Roger asked the brownie. He nodded, and pointed to one on his shelf.
"Thanks," said Roger. "Come on guys, let's go back."
"Oh my gosh, Em, you're shrinking!" Crystal cried.
"Oh no, what am I gonna do?" I panicked. I shrunk rapidly, and I was extremely short; shorter than Crystal, which is saying something. Luckily, me clothes shrunk with me.
"We better find your luck fast!" said Roger, picking me up. I wondered why he cared, but didn't linger on it.
Roger carried me and the candle out of the cavern, and we walked all the way back.
"Now where do we go?" asked Crystal.
Then, me storm above my head just had to choose the moment to rain, and washed the candle flame out.
"Oh geez!" I said. "Where do we go—"
The dragon roar cut me off again, except we couldn't tell where it had come from.
"Run!" Crystal yelled, and she flew as Roger ran into a tunnel...
…that happened to lead into the dragon cave.
"What do we do now?" asked Roger. "We can't just leave."
"There's your clover, Em!" said Crystal, spotting and pointing into the dragon rock-ring. Me clover lay in there, behind the roaring dragon which was baring its teeth dangerously.
"How do we get it?" I asked.
"Emmy, don't worry, I'm sure Roger would know," said Crystal sarcastically, looking at him. He glared.
"Hey, just because I'm a straight-A student doesn't mean I'm a genius," he said.
"Oh, I'm sorry, stupid," said Crystal.
"Oh, just shut up Crys," I said. "Maybe he has an idea."
"Yeah, maybe I do," said Roger.
"So let's hear it then," I said.
"Okay, Crystal, since you can fly, you distract the dragon," he said. "Emmy and I can go get the clover."
"'Kay," said Crystal. She flew up to the dragon snout and teased.
"Hey Mister Dragon! Betcha' can't catch me!"
The dragon started swiping at her, and Roger ran while carrying me. He picked up me clover and handed it to me. I grew taller and my storm cloud cleared.
"Thanks," I said.
"No problem," panted Roger, smiling.
"Guys, come on!" yelled Crystal desperately. "I can't hold him off too long, y'know!"
The dragon turned and saw us, and saw the clover in my hands. He bore his teeth and walked towards us.
Roger tugged me away, and I shoved my clover in my vest. I waved my hands shakily, and a bright rainbow appeared.
"Climb on!" I shouted. We stepped on, and the rainbow glided us up and out of the hole.
"Wow, that was fun," I said, as I leaned against the wall tiredly.
"Yeah," said Roger.
"I think my wings are bruised," said Crystal. "Well, I gotta go, guys."
"Bye," Roger and I said.
"Kids, where are you?" we heard our parents yell. We glanced at each other and smiled. Roger yelled back,
"We just had...a little leprechaun's lost luck, that's all!"
