see us walk through the grass

like free chickadees roaming –

see us dance, see us wail

as though wings could bear us up.

there are none so birdlike as the graceless,

none so angelic as the sinners.

the sun has gone down,

we night-owls give pause;

why fly light

when there is much more to be done?
