One species watched another. The first species, the Technopaths, were immortal. They were walking between the stars before humans had realized there was a sky. Humans were a hardy species, but still able to die. They were focused on material things, they were a people of possessions. One species simply observed, the other was seeking sentience in their solar system and not finding it. Humans were a fairly advanced species, and had finally gotten smart about taking care of their planet.

Once the humans had gotten rid of the acid rain on Venus it had been turned into housing. Mars was already quite suitable. The Earth was now solely a place to grow food. Only those people who gathered the food remained on the planet. Animals roamed free, and the oceans were unpolluted. Using DNA samples, scientists had recreated entire extinct species. Now the whole Earth was a nature preserve.

On the downside, the Rare Magical Morphas were being hunted. They were magical beings that could become any creature, real or imagined. Some were rumored to be wizards. They were passing as humans to avoid being hunted.

In this mostly peaceful time, The Shard Academy of Glass City on Venus was the academic center of the Solar System. Officially the only students were humans, but in reality three species walked the halls.

Humans were resourceful and smart, but the Technopaths were willing to wait. The only clue to humans that they existed was a small purple book. This was currently in the hands of the Really Major Missions (RMM) spy organization.
