Damien request

(After leaving friction press for a long time I am trying to get back and be the writer and storyteller in me)

Chapter 1

Damien’s request

1818

It is dark out. I don’t think Damien is going to make it. It is terrible to be trapped in this house. The darkness engulfed me like compressed air, Suffocating. I succumbed to my worry and thought of him out there in the boat distracted me from my work. Little Rosy was busy reading the book of alphabets and I am worrying about the love of my life.

He told me this morning he is off to the sea…as a fisherman’s son Damien was rarely at sea because he’s an educated man and works with the accountant company in London. No Damien has another purpose this morning. His eyes…those frightened eyes. Told me mixed stories…was it sad? Was it mad? Was it desperate? Damien oh Damien what had happened to you?

There was a knocked on the door. A man in a trenched coat was standing in the middle of the maddening storm.

“Miss are you the governess the lover to Mr. Damien?” he said.

“Yes, kind sir”

“Miss I am afraid I am to tell you a sad grave story one of which I am sure you do not wish to hear”

“I am all ears”

For all I know there was no storm any more. The sound was drowned by his very words.

His words… his painful words.

“He is dead” said the old man.

My world as I know it disappeared. My hopes as I see it is nothing but a memory. For my love ended in a tragedy.
