A+ A- |
you were so cute in your checkered little tie sipping beer through two straws
your feet swinging carelessly inches above the floor & your knees black&blue like a boy's
you gave me a look which clearly meant you were interested
I stared at my shoes which clearly meant I was interested too
but it seemed we were both old-fashioned girls because neither made a move & then
on Sunday what were you doing in church? I saw you through the stained glass kneeling down
praying & I felt an impulse to go in to talk to
you
but eventually I just went on & I wondered the whole week why you were there until
I saw you again yesterday downtown in lipstick & flower dress efficiently hiding your ungirly knees
walking hand in hand with him
staring at your shoes
