Ode to Pirates

Meszaros-Jones 2

Ode to Olden Pirates

Leather belts

That catch

The grinning

Cutlass

Rum that pours

Galore to sate

The savvy appetite

With gold

Excitement

Fills the sails

Adventure

Lifts the bow

The banner waving

Lofty

On the breeze

The bleachèd skulls

And crossèd bones

Black

And ominous

Clouds to merchants all

An endless chase

Upon the seas

For treasure, hunters

And their prey

The cannons bursting into song

Ringing bright

And bringing

Swords that break the dawn

Justice springs to rise

The navy tolls the bell

To hurry

In the tempest

Waves as hammers

Driving, pelting

Down to slick the decks

The Rain falls sharply

As a gale

Its drops to fill

The brig

Only a moment

The waters pause

Quickly!

Captain calls

Defy the land!

Haul the prize

And sails!

Break the chains!

To ride the

Reckless wind

Away
